You could be “tearing it up” where you’re from yet there will always be someone you haven’t seen ready to do some “tearing of their own” so keep that in mind, yet again, many won’t, so here are some players from other states that stood out
Izabella Smith-5’4 PG (Arkansas Fastdogs) 2025
Smith brought the heat to open up the event and when you come out of the block at “8 in da mornin” you know the party hasn’t stopped. Her smothering defense baseline helped create turnovers yet her diving on the floor for loose balls also stood out as she kept bringing IT
Brooklyn Woodley-5’7 SG (Arkansas Fastdogs) 2025
Woodley was one of many players I saw at the event that could not only create their shot and drop it from mid to long-range with a hand in her face but she also was one of many that do something I love to see and that’s ” catch and shoot” it. She also handled the ball and saw the floor
Amiya Taylor Amiya Taylor 5'8" | SF Conway | 2024 State AR -5’6 SG (Arkansas Sting 17U) 2024
Taylor had me wondering where I had seen her before and afterward, she refreshed my memory as her Conway high school team has been playing in the Sandra Meadows Classic since my hair was all black. She too shot it well and she showed she not only drop it from mid to long-range with a hand in her face but her ability to “catch and shoot” as well as her step back was solid, as well as her “on the ball” defense
Ruby Trammell-5’9 G (Arkansas Sting 17U) 2024
Trammell is “long and athletic” guard which is also the base that I love to evaluate and watching her set the defender up to attack the basket was nice. She has a deceptive first step which gets her to the rim yet she scores after contact and can also dish off the dribble. She also showed good court vision in transition
Garylon Brown-5’5 G (4U2NV 16U Temple) 2025
Brown brought the heat immediately and it didn’t stop as she understands how to use her athleticism on both ends of the court. I love covering Louisiana teams, not because of possible nepotism but because more times than not, they show me things from another era . She scored off the dribble, her body control was very nice and her “on the ball” defense was among the best I saw to open the day up
Daija Lee Leblanc-6’0 F (4U2NV 16U Temple) 2025
Leblanc is “long and athletic” and stands at ” the magic number” and those two things right there will have her on the short list of many college coaches. Her timing to block, alter, and (or) deflect shots was very good, and so was interior defense yet when she stepped out of the paint to not only play at the top of the press but defend on the perimeter, that spoke volumes to me. She also rebounded on both ends and finshed strongly around the basket
Sabrina Hansen-5’9 F (Utah U 16U) 2025
Hansen impressed me by doing what she does at her size as she plays taller than her listed height. She understands positioning and that helps her to outrebound taller players but she also uses her frame well inside the paint to finish, after contact included
