This phrase is more than just the signature chant of the Cincinnati Bengals. It is the question many coaches may be asking about these five players, but they shouldn’t be asking that question. Rather, they should be looking at these girls as valuable additions to their college teams. Here’s why:
Abby Eastman Abby Eastman 5'10" | C Ripley | 2024 State WV , Ripley, SF, 5-10, Sr. – Should you happen to need a player who will do all the little things to win a game, you need to take a look at Eastman. Really. If you add her to your team, you will gain someone whose only goal is to see the team win. She doesn’t care about stats, attention, or any individual achievement. Everything about Abby yells team. In addition, she works well around the rim and doesn’t mind banging bodies to get the job done.
Riley Landis Riley Landis 5'9" | SG Williamstown | 2024 State WV , Williamstown, W, 5-11, Sr. – Landis doesn’t do anything flashy, but rather, she’s consistently solid at everything she does on the court. From scoring to leading, and rebounding to assisting, there’s nothing she can’t do on the court. She doesn’t exactly receive a huge amount of attention as she plays in one of the smallest cities in the state. But, college coaches should definitely check out this Yellowjacket, who will bring a workman-like attitude to the court.
Mary Tokodi-Ruth Mary Tokodi-Ruth 5'8" | CG Parkersburg Catholic | 2024 WV , Parkersburg Catholic, SG, 5-8, Sr. – Ruth is a pest on defense. An absolute pest. An offensive player just can’t get rid of her, no matter how hard they try to rid themselves of their defender. She sticks to her player like peanut butter on jelly. The best part about her is that she moves her feet well and reacts quickly to changes in her assignment’s routes of attack. Perhaps, it’s because she has three generations of great basketball DNA inside her mind or maybe it is natural, but one thing is for sure, if you take a look at Tokodi-Ruth, you are getting a lock-down defender who gives her team the ability to play a five-on-four game on the defensive end.
Sofia Wassick Sofia Wassick 5'7" | PG Morgantown | 2024 State WV , Morgantown, PG, 5-8, Sr. – Wassick defines a player who rises to the highest of occasions. Yup. Yup. Yup. No matter how bright the lights, the stakes, or the talent, she always brings her A-game. She is just a great point guard. Seasoned with years of playing in the OVAC 5A title game and Class AAAA state tournament games, she especially excels on larger courts where she can run free and the angles of attack are many and larger. Something in her mind just clicks as she delivers the ball to everyone like Jason Kidd used to with the New Jersey Nets. Maybe that is taking it a bit too far, but not much. Her vision really is extraordinary as she plays chess with the other nine players on the floor. More often than not, she ends up toppling the king with her high basketball IQ and ability to deliver the basketball to her teammates or score on the offensive end with an unrelenting attacking nature.
