Continue ReadingI covered this division remotely and I want to thank those who turned in non-erroneous rosters because it kind of makes it hard to know who you’re talking about with the proper information. I woke up early to catch some teams I didn’t get a chance to see and I’ll probably be revisiting several games. Here’s the All-Tournament First Team, I’ll be dropping a Second Team as well as other players that caught my eye over the weekend so here ya go
Taylor Wood-5’10 G/F (Missouri Storm 2026) Nixa [2026]
Wood is “long and athletic” and I call that the base. It’s a profile I love to evaluate but importantly so do many college coaches and they offer chances to play at the next level. Her intangibles are plentiful as she scored off the dribble using either hand to attack the basket yet her finishes after contact were consistent. Her ability to create her shot under pressure stood out, especially since she drained it from mid to long-range but I enjoyed watching her “catch and shoot” it while being defended
Jayda Kearney Jayda Kearney 6'5" | C College Park | 2026 State TX -6’5 C (REAL Lady Ballers 2026) College Park [2026]
Kearney will be added to the Top 100 in Texas on my next update which happens to be very soon yet her improvement and progression since I last saw her is happening sooner than I anticipated. She too is “long and athletic” but what I really enjoyed was not only watching her finish around the basket but doing it with either hand. She’s sealing the defender on the block and basically, you can forget about blocking her shot. She’s already picked up offers to play at the next level, which is no surprise, she’s a #D1Lock and her ceiling has no roof but her rebounding and timing to block shots have also improved
Lexi Cooley Lexi Cooley 5'5" | PG Olathe West | 2026 State KS -5’5 CG ( Kansas Elite 2026 RED) Olathe West [2026]
Cooley is smooth and under control, I woke up earlier to catch the replay of her game and it didn’t take me long to realize what I was looking at it. Her poise under pressure immediately stood out, and so did her “take charge” mindset because her first step sets everything else up for her offensively. Why, because she attacks strongly off the dribble and finishes after contact yet if you give her any room, she can drop the mid to long-range. She also dropped the jumper in transition and saw the floor both in the set and in the open court. Add her “on the ball” pressure and quick hands, both help create turnovers
Cammi Unruh-5’5 CG (Lady PGU Hoops 2026) Moundridge [2026]
Unruh stood out both days and watching her show me even more on Sunday had me smiling. Her deceptive first step enabled her to get the defender to lean and that gave her options to attack and finish, body control played a part in that as well. She handled the ball and saw the floor under pressure and in transition, she threw blistering passes in traffic to her teammates for assist opportunities. She shot it well from deep but she also created her shot in the set for the midrange. Sunday she showed the EURO as well as the “catch and shoot” but her pressure on the defensive end was solid as well
Jamie Washam -5’9 G/F (MO Legacy 2026) McDonald Co [2026]
Washam had my attention on both days as she filled in many blanks while finding ways to fill up the stat sheet. She finished with power off the dribble and contact was irrelevant but her setting the defender up to attack the basket on both days was very nice. Her defense in the half court as well as in transition was good, and so was her doing something I love to see, and that’s ” playing the passing lane”. She saw handled the ball in the open court after the steal and saw the floor in the open court and she rebounded on both ends of the floor
