Our rankings update every three months. Prep Girls Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek will be breaking down the top five players in each position for each class. This week we have our focus on the rising seniors.
Despite her junior season being cut short due to a season-ending injury, Nelms still brings a multi-versatile role to her game whether it’s her scoring on the interior as well as expanding into becoming a perimeter threat. Nelms can impact the game in a variety of ways whether it’s her post-game or letting it fly from beyond the arc. The 6-2 forward has a high IQ, great court vision and is a proven winner having won a state championship in each of her first three seasons at the high school level.
The 6-1 rising senior power forward has all the intangibles whether it’s her footwork or athleticism. Williams plays at her best when she is finishing in the paint using her strength to her advantage. She also has a smooth handle when the basketball is in her hands where she has great court vision and plays with a high IQ. Williams has picked up offers from Arizona State and Pittsburgh so far this summer.
The 6-1 rising senior has the athleticism and explosiveness of a guard but that doesn’t define her game. Roundtree plays with smooth handles and is a viable three level scoring threat. On the defensive end of the floor she can guard multiple positions at a high level using her speed and ability to stay in front of her opposition. Roundtree also can impact the game with her defensive rebounding presence and uses her length to force opponents into taking difficult shots.
Coyle is one of the Top 2024 power forwards in the state and she continues to bring consistency to her game whether it’s her smooth hands or her ability to make great cuts finishing at the front of the rim. On the defensive end, Coyle plays with great length where she is a tenacious rebounder and shot blocker. On the offensive end, Coyle has expanded her game into being a multi-dimensional game where she will occasionally shoot from the mid-range. Coyle averaged a near double-double 10.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game last season for Bishop Kenny.
The 5-10 power forward is one of the top two-way prospects in the state where she excels in the post on the offensive end or her rebounding on the defensive end. She plays with a ton of physicality which can frustrate the opposition as well as being unafraid to finish with contact at the rim. Card averaged 15.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season as a junior for South Broward.
