Thursday, we released the Summer rankings update for the Class of 2024. The number of prospects listed grew from 200 to 225 total prospects, and while the Top-100 remained a Top-100, the 100-player watchlist became a 125-player watchlist. At this time, I wanted to highlight all of the 2-guards/off-guards/shooting guards in the Class of 2024 we have listed at this time, as well as highlight a handful of ladies who raised their stock or were newly added this time around.

NEW-COMERS:
In a Ben Davis program deep with talent, especially in the backcourt over the last couple of seasons, Hermoni has managed to see the floor in 52 of their 53 games. She is a fairly strong, tough-nosed, hard-working guard with nice length. Offensively, she is more of a facilitator than a shooter/scorer, and she does a solid job of taking care of the basketball. When she does score it, it is usually by attacking the basket. Her greatest value, right now, comes from her efforts defensively and on the boards, where she collects a number of steals and rebounds.
Skylar is a talented multisport athlete who few people outside of Northwest Indiana are familiar with. She has an athletic frame, good length, and solid strength. Without a natural point guard on their roster this past season, she acted as their primary ball-handler and did a nice job of getting them into their sets/offenses. As a scorer, she is best attacking the basket, and she is a nice North/South athlete. She can knock down an open 3-pointer, but as her shooting improves, she’ll be even more dangerous. She’s also a versatile defender and rebounder.
Reagan really stepped up for JCD during the 2022-2023 season, averaging 12.4 points and 2.4 steals per game, while knocking down 56 3-pointers at a 34% rate. She is a long and wiry guard who is looking shot first, drive second, but she has change-of-direction ability in traffic and can craftily finish around the lane. She handles it well enough to slide over and act as a primary ball-handler as well. She is more of a game-managing point guard than a creator, but she takes care of the basketball and finds open teammates. I also like her defensive versatility.
Highlights
Sydney is a really nice athlete and a big-time energy kid for the Lady Miners. She grew up watching their program win consecutive state titles at the Class 2A level, and she even played a couple of minutes at the end of their title game in 2021. She is a highly effective defender who can get after it, whether in man or zone, and she uses her length well to affect passing lanes. Offensively, she shares ball-handling responsibilities for the Miners, and she can get downhill and collapse defenses, finding open teammates in positions for easy buckets.
Janiya has an athletic frame, wiry strength, nice length, and run-and-jump ability. She works hard each possession, but offensively she is programmed as a scorer. She’s best off the bounce, and she can finish through contact, but as her jumper continues to improve, she should be even more of a multilevel threat. Defensively, she is strong enough to play against some bigger wings, but she’s also athletic enough to take on most guards. She’s one of those kids who is good at most things, but she’ll need to find a niche to where she is great at one or two things.
D.J. is a little undersized as a scoring guard, but she has the ability to really score it. She has broad shoulders, great length, and solid strength at her size. She is more so North/South fast than water-bug quick, but she moves well in most directions. She is a downhill attacker, a very good perimeter shooter, and she has a quick release. The Lady Panthers even ran sets for her during games in 2022-2023. I also like her activity/energy at the defensive end of the floor. I think she could be a legitimate threat at the small college level as someone you run off of screens.
Elise has had quite the roller-coaster throughout high school dealing with her health, but now stronger than ever, she is again putting together consistent performances and helping her teams to success. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, and versatile. She has always been a solid ball-handler, but I feel like she is more efficient off the ball. She can knock down shots outside, slice to the basket for scores, and she uses her length well at the defensive end of the floor. As she continues to build her strength, look for her to be even more productive.
Heaven is someone I saw for the first time back in April, and I really enjoy her versatile game. She is strong, tough-nosed, and she plays with a great motor. She is willing to be physical inside of the arc, but she also possesses good skill and shooting touch behind the line. She is more of a North/South attacker off the bounce, so adding some shiftiness in traffic could only help. That lateral quickness can also be applied defensively, but she does battle bigger guards, wings, and undersized forwards with effort. I also like how she rebounds from the perimeter.

STOCK-RISERS:
Kennedy exploded during the 2022-2023 high school season and earned a spot on the Indiana Junior All-Star Team. She is a nice athlete, she has speed, change-of-direction ability, and some bounce, and she plays with an outstanding motor. Growing up, she typically used her athleticism to complete plays, but over the last couple of years, she has turned herself into an elite perimeter shooter. If she gets any space and rhythm, it’s typically falling for her. She is also an effortful defender, and she is becoming a more productive ball-handler and facilitator.
Kamara seems to be that kid who is on the cusp of breaking out, and following a nice Winter for the Lady Wildcats in which she averaged 8.2 points per game and knock down 35 3-pointers, she has followed it up with an even better Spring & Summer. She has an athletic frame with length, she moves well in all directions, and she has proven herself to be an elite on-ball defender. She can sit down and almost dictate where ball-handlers go, plus she’s quick enough and instinctive enough to get into passing lanes from the “help” side of the floor.
Norah has always displayed good skill, an understanding of the game, and the ability to make basketball plays out of nothing. This Spring, however, she is starting to play with a much greater urgency each possession, which should translate into her producing more consistently as well. She has a fairly strong, athletic frame, some length, and she is a nice North/South athlete. She could work on lateral quickness a little, especially defensively, but she makes up for it with a quiet toughness and competitiveness. She has helped Reitz’s rapid climb.
