As the grassroots season wraps up, student-athletes begin back-to-school shopping, preparing for the 2023-2024 school year. The Class of 2024, believe it or not, is approaching their Senior season, and I wanted to highlight some of the top uncommitted prospects position by position as we head into the end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. Below is a look at the Top-10 2-guard prospects who remain uncommitted at this time, to the best of my knowledge.
1.
Allison Caldwell

, 2024, 5-11 SG, Zionsville Community H.S.
– Allie is an extremely long, fluid, and highly skilled wing. She can really shoot the ball, and she has already knocked down several big shots for the Lady Eagles throughout her career. She also passes it at a high level, and she can get it through tight windows to teammates on the move. She is starting to play much stronger and more physical, and she has been attacking the basket a lot more. I like her overall understanding of the game, and her ability to make adjustments, not making the same mistakes repeatedly.
2.
Samiyah Stout

Elkhart | 2024

, 2024, 5-7 CG, Elkhart H.S.
– Samiyah is one of the most athletic guard prospects in Indiana’s 2024 class. She is a downhill attacker who loves the ball in her hands, as she utilizes ball screens often. Her first step is difficult to contain, and you almost have to trap her at times, though she is capable of finding open teammates off of the double-team. Defensively, she has nice length, quick feet, and the ability to be physical around the perimeter while not getting beat laterally. With a little more urgency, she can be elite at that end of the floor.
3.
Aubrie Booker

Center Grove | 2024

IN
, 2024, 5-8 CG, Center Grove H.S.
– Aubrie is one of the most well-rounded guards in the state, regardless of class. While she might not be the best at any one singular category, she is very good in every facet of the game. She can handle the ball and operate an offense, she can attack the basket athletically and create for others or score it herself, and she can get in rhythms where she hits multiple perimeter jumpers in a row. Defensively, she is a nice asset, as she can defend most point guards, all ‘2s’, and bigger wings with athleticism and intelligence.
4.
Joirdyn Smith

Fishers | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-4 CG, Fishers H.S.
– Joirdyn has always been enjoyable to watch, because she competes each possession. She is strong, quick (more so quick than fast), and she is tough-nosed and gritty. She is programmed as a scorer, and she will hunt jump-shots if given any space whatsoever. At the same time, she has good ball skill, and she can break down a defender and create for herself or open teammates. Defensively, she is quick and crafty, and she can get underneath opposing ball-handlers and really cause problems for them.
5.
Chloey Graham

Gibson Southern | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-9 SG, Gibson Southern H.S.
– Chloey is one of the best shooters on this list, and she has that reputation in Southwest Indiana. She has a strong frame, solid North/South athleticism, and she plays hard all the time. She has a nice basketball IQ, really understands what she can/can’t do, and finds ways to be productive each time out. Lateral quickness, especially defending the ball, would be my biggest concern, but she does a nice job of understanding angles and using her strength to redirect ball-handlers.
6.
Kennedy Fuelling

Norwell | 2024

, 2024, 5-7 CG, Norwell H.S.
– I’ve seen Kennedy since she was entering high school, but for people outside of Northeast Indiana, this was her first full Spring & Summer playing grassroots basketball. She has an athletic frame, good speed and quickness, and she competes each possession. She is a knockdown shooter with a quick release, and she needs very little space to as deep as 27-feet. At the same time, her ball-handling has improved, and she is starting to run offense more frequently. She was an Indiana Junior All-Star this year.
7.
Nadia Clayton

Lake Central | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-7 SG, Lake Central H.S.
– Everyone hates playing against a kid like Nadia, but they love having her on their team. She is an extremely quick, fast, and feisty ballplayer who can pick up, and almost taunt, opposing ball-handlers 84-feet. While other kids make big shots, she can change games down the stretch with a big stop or steal. She is also explosive offensively, turning the corner and getting to the basket, and she draws plenty of fouls and trips to the free throw line. Don’t let her find rhythm outside either, or she can make a few in a row.
8.
Morgan Cross

Northridge | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-7 CG, Northridge H.S.
– Morgan was probably more of a point guard when she entered high school, but the combination of her gaining strength and being able to shoot the ball at a high level has her acting as more of a shooter/scorer a lot of the time. She can still handle it and initiate the offense, but she’s more of a game-manager now, instead of a break-you-down creator. I do like her quiet toughness and motor, and she will compete each possession at both ends of the floor. She is a high-level small college prospect.
9.
Mya Davis

Heritage Christian | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-7 CG, Heritage Christian H.S.
– The combination of her finishing growing, getting stronger, and finding a home at Heritage Christian has had Mya trending up since last Fall. She is an extremely long, fluidly athletic combo guard who has shown she can really score it for her high school team. She has touch outside, the ability to get by defenders, plus she can create for open teammates. I also like her activity defensively, as she uses her length and quickness well. Additional strength will likely result in more trips to the charity stripe.
10.
Ava Reitmeyer

Bloomington North | 2024
State
IN
, 2024, 5-9 SG, Bloomington H.S. North
– Ava was noticeably stronger this Spring & Summer, and she’s attacking the basket with more confidence and assertiveness. She has always been a capable shooter, but now her ability to score it around the paint really helps in becoming a multilevel scorer. She is somewhat young for her grade level, so maybe there is still more strength/growth left in her. Regardless, she is a high IQ ballplayer, skillful, and hard-working, and I think most Midwestern small colleges would appreciate what she brings to the court.
