transferred to PVI from Gainesville, and had she stayed at Gainesville, her role would have expanded, and she wouldn’t be on this list. Demi was the second-best player on a tremendous Gainesville team. She scored in the paint a lot and was a go-to offensive option when she could flex her ball handling and passing at her size. At PVI, she likely won’t be someone the team consistently looks to provide big-scoring nights. Demi’s most impactful skill may be her defensive versatility. She is a great athlete, and at 6’0, she will add to a PVI team that should be great on defense. She’ll do other things well, like rebound and pass.

Frances Shapiro
Frances Shapiro
Frances Shapiro is another name that her role is outgrowing this list. But so far, from what I’ve seen, Frances does all the small things well. Frances can shoot the ball well; her defensive activity is one of my favorite things about her. She rebounds well and is solid at attacking the rim when needed. Frances is talented, and Washington-Liberty is going to be better this year. If that happens, I see it being because Frances has a big scoring year. You won’t see her on this list again if she takes that leap
I’ve found myself writing a lot about

. Adriana is a smart and tough basketball player that any coach would like. She defends, works hard, and can run an offense when asked. Bishop O’Connell is a team to watch this year because their guards and Adriana will help them win games.

James Madison has been the best public school in NOVA for the past half-decade. They’ve won 4 straight state titles because of their smothering defense. Avery is the biggest reason for this team dominating teams on defense over the past few years. Avery makes life difficult for opposing teams by blocking shots and collecting rebounds. She is an intelligent defender who impacts every game she plays. Avery is a pretty slept-on offensive contributor, but her most significant contribution to this team is her rebounding and defense.

Hannah Wakefield Hannah Wakefield 5’6″ | SG Centreville HS | 2024 VA is a fantastic three-and-d player. She is excellent at catching and shooting and is more than willing to compete on defense against the opposing team’s best player. Her rebounding is fantastic, and she will be critical to what a talent-rich Centreville team does this season.
