Almond-Bancroft
The Eagles have their two leading scorers back for a team who won the South and finished the season at 22-4. Lexie Dernbach led this group in scoring and will provide valuable experience in her senior season. Sophomore Aaliyah Newby had a standout campaign in her first run with Almond-Bancroft and added experience for her sophomore season. The Eagles have all the tools they need to defend their conference title this coming season.
Wild Rose
At Wild Rose, I’ll be curious to see how they handle Laney Havlovitz’s graduation. The Wildcats have her younger sister, Cali, who plays strikingly similar to her older sister. However, losing a player-of-the-year caliber athlete in the conference is difficult for any team. Mya Bahr is also back for this Wild Rose team and will need to take another step to help the Wildcats compete with Almond-Bancroft this season.
Pacelli
The Cardinals have to reshuffle the deck from last season. Pacelli lost some significant pieces in players like Amelia Jacoby, who was a solid post for them, and other players who earned some all-conference recognition. There is some talent back, but I’m interested in what everyone’s roles look like this season.
Pittsville
Reese Grimm and Brynn Friday are two juniors who could help take this Pittsville team a little higher up the conference standings. Those two have played together for a while now and continue to improve. Grimm and Friday were two of only four kids to land on an all-conference team as an underclassman.
Rosholt
Sarah Trzinski had a solid summer with Champan Basketball Academy and led the conference in rebounding by over four rebounds per game. Seeing what she did compared to her peers was almost ridiculous, and her ability to continue to find ways to help her team, whether at Rosholt last season or this summer at CBA. Trzinski will be critical.
Tri-County
The only Tri-County player to receive any all-conference recognition last season graduated, and they’ll need to find a way to get that production from elsewhere to stay above the bottom of the conference, but the goal will be to continue to improve.
Port Edwards
Mel Sillers graduated from Port Edwards as the only one who earned all-conference honors on her team. This season will be all about keeping kids interested in basketball and continuing to improve year after year.
