Continue ReadingAngel McCombs is a competitor as she does what needs to be done to win games and she does it constantly. Over the last year or so we’ve seen a shift in her game that has start to elevate her past her peers. Her left to right cross is low and quick which gives her the small amount space she needs to get to the rim or pull up for the jumper. Angeline will be a name to remember has the season starts as they may see some varsity time at Regis.
Alexis Arakaki
Alexis Arakaki
The smaller the guard, the more they have to be able to control the pace of the game which is exactly what Alexis was able to do on Sunday afternoon. Her highest-scoring game may have been 9 points, but she impacted the game in so many ways it was nearly impossible to take her off the court in crunch time. She has a shifty handle that she used to create space for herself to set up the offense or get downhill to the rim. Based on her play at the showcase I’m ready to see how she is used at Horizon next season.
Madison Bethel Madison Bethel 5’5″ | PG Northfield | 2027 State CO has the complete package as far as being able to control the game as a smaller guard. She gets downhill whenever she wants and finishes amongst the trees in the paint. It took couple of easy layups for teams to realize she was left-handed but by then it was too late she was hot and there was no stopping her.
Highlights
Reyna Martinez
Reyna Martinez
Reyna was the smallest girl at the showcase but had one the most impactful presences as she dominated on the defensive end of the floor. Reyna Martinez is a pesky defender that never gives up on a play. Her motor gives her an edge over opposing players. Especially on the offensive end of the floor, she plays so hard which always has her in the right spots for easy layups. Once she gets used to the speed of the game at the high school, she will be very effective in transition.
Sasha Davis
Sasha Davis
This half of the Davis twins stood out from both ends of the floor with her ball-handling abilty on the offensive end of the floor as well as her finishing at the rim in transition through contact. Defensively, she is as tough as they come as she is willing to pick up full-court and force turnovers all game. Sasha will be a great backcourt addition to the guards that are currently already at Overland.
