Athletes came from all across the country to show why they should be considered some of the top athletes in their class. North Carolina was well represented at the event as we have already discussed a handful of these standouts. Let’s proceed with the next round of NC athletes that caught my eye.
Sydnee Woolard – 5’9” 2027
Woolard had some nice moves in the paint getting the ball at the elbow and attacking the basket. She can take it all the way herself or make the dish as she drew extra defenders her way. She did a nice job rebounding the ball on both ends. Her ability to track down long rebounds was definitely an asset for her team. She didn’t back down from contact going to battle for her points. On defense, she was blocking shots in the paint protecting the basket.
Sophie Montana – 5’3” 2028
Montana found the opening and showed off her stroke from deep. She did a nice job attacking the gaps drawing defenders to make the dish to her teammates underneath the basket. She was consistent moving well with the ball hitting her open teammates for their own points. Her handles were nice wearing down her defender.
Lily Temple – 5’7” 2028
Temple had a nice take throwing a fake pointing as if she was getting a screen and going the other direction creating space and taking advantage of no help defense as she got to the basket for two. She did a nice job pushing the tempo trying to catch her defenders off guard as she found her open teammates up the court. She’s a high motor guard who knows how to get downhill and score some points.
Ahnala Temple – 5’4 2029
Temple was always getting the ball in her hands on offense, and you certainly knew why with the way she showed off her handles on the court. She was getting around her defenders weaving her way to the basket finishing off the glass. You can tell she already sees the floor so well knowing how to make plays and facilitate an offense.
