These girls are considered some of the top in the nation at their age groups. We’ve already discussed some from the midwest and the southeast. Let’s move on the the New England area with standouts from New York and New Jersey. There’s even one from Canada!
New York
Lia Calderon – 5’7” 2027
Calderon was making moves cutting all along the paint getting open being ready for the pass and bucket. She did a nice job pushing the ball exploding up the court for some fast breaks. She had a nice up and under move in the paint creating a lot of space for her to score some points. She was tough on defense especially on the press stripping the ball and finding a teammate for some quick turnover points.
Valendena Arakas – 5’9” 2028
Arakas was an asset in the paint flashing in the middle getting the pass and putting it up for two points. She had a nice spin move in the paint getting the pass and losing her opponent in the motion to put up her shot. She had a good combination of handles and post moves to make her a threat on the court.
New Jersey
Isabella Ruh Isabella Ruh 5'11" | C Hillsborough | 2027 State NJ – 5’11” 2027
Ruh did a nice job being ready for offensive rebounds, especially on fast breaks. Her height was an asset rebounding the ball on both ends of the court. She had a game sealing block in the paint as a shifty opponent got to the basket, and she used her hands to knock the ball away.
Madison McLain Madison McLain 5'8" | CG Blair | 2027 State NJ – 5’8” 2027
McLain had a solid move jumping in front of the pass and pushing it the other direction for a fast break. She had a nice play hustling back getting the offensive rebound, and she used power dribbles to get situated and score her points through contact. She was constantly getting to the basket filling the lanes, using fakes, and finishing at the rim. She had some range on her shot, too. Her on ball defense was tough to get by constantly knocking the ball away from her opponents and diving on the floor for loose possessions.
Ontario
Portia Reisen – 5’8” 2028
Reisen had a nice take driving it aggressively coast to coast scoring easily at the basket. She continued to push the tempo throughout the games finding her open teammates cutting up the court for some of their own points. She even showed off some nice post moves scoring with her back starting to the basket. She hustled back on defense deflecting the pass stopping a fast break.
