PGH WA strives to cover all levels of players. Top prospects all the way down to the junior college level. Not all will move on to play in college. That is why we have the most comprehensive high school girls basketball coverage across the state of WA. Not only that, we have coverage for all fifty states. Here, I take a closer look at some of the rankings risers in the class of 2024.
From WL to #30. Maya moved up in the rankings and out of Mountlake Terrace. She transferred to Garfield for the upcoming season. She will be a huge factor in their run for a 4th straight state title. She excels as a downhill player and gets to the basket with her strength and some added creativity. She is a tough guard/forward who can get buckets from anywhere. Her style of play brings both the toughness and a strong overall skill-set. Garfield is loaded with good players but Maya should be locked in as a starter with intangibles that every team needs.
Annie was bumped from #44 to #33 in the 2024 rankings update. She has the length and athleticism and her ability to go to work on the block is impressive. She has a nice drop step and can finish with either hand. She also stands out on defense. Not only with her length but with her effort. She can pressure the ball on the perimeter and changes shots in the paint. She has versatility that allows her to defend at a high level, whether it be in the paint or on the perimeter.
Highlights
Giselle moved up to #30 in the rankings update. Giselle is a scorer. She is crafty and creative :and makes sense tough shots. BhindiShe scores off the dribble, and makes tough shots at the basket. She averaged over 22 points per game last season and those points are legit. Her skills look to be refined as a result of lots of reps. That’s obvious when you watch her break down the defense and score in traffic. She is also a deep ball threat but I was more impressed with the bag of tricks from everywhere else on the floor.
From unranked to #50. Krista played a big role for the class 4A state champion (Eastlake) last season. She wasn’t counted on to be a big scorer, she did other things well. She has great length and her versatility leads to rebounding, shot blocking, and scoring in the paint. She is active and plays with good energy on defense and getting second chances with offensive rebounds. She has a soft touch in the mid-range and should be counted on to score more with the loss of 4A tournament MVP.
