Kimberly Tabarez Kimberly Tabarez 5'4" | PG Westhope/Newburg | 2024 State ND – Westhope – 5’4 – We covered her sister in our last article and touched a bit on how Kimberly is a walking bucket! With the graduation of Ellie Braaten, Kimberly will be looked too as the go-to player and will surely average well over 23 a game. This past season she averaged 19.1 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals a game. She shot 43% from the field and 32% beyond the arc. Statistically she has excelled in every category each season and no doubt will continue to shine into her senior year. A quick, decisive guard that can flat out score in a hurry. Don’t let her size fool you as she packs a massive punch on the scoreboard.
Kyra Haecherl Kyra Haecherl 5'10" | PF Lisbon | 2024 State ND – Lisbon – 5’9 – Kyra is a box score stuffer and a walking double-double. She plays physical and fast, has a nice mid-range game that you have to respect and can put the ball on the deck blowing by slower defenders or bullying her way to the rim. A player that in my opinion is solid at the 3 and 4 spot. She’s quick enough to keep up with guards and reads the passing lanes well. She’s not someone that I want leading a fast break, but someone I want finishing it. This past season she averaged 12 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3 steals a game. She shot the ball an efficient 45% from the field letting you know she’s going to take the best possible shot on the court for her team. I’m truly excited to see what this hooper brings to her senior season.
Kaycee Desjarlais Kaycee Desjarlais 5'9" | PF St. John | 2024 State ND – St. John – 5’10 – Kaycee is a 5’10 traditional big that has a nice looking middie and can surprisingly hit the trey ball from deep when needed. Overall, Kaycee is a player that knows her role in the Woodchucks fast-paced offense and can really get up and down the court in a hurry. She’s a player that excels in a dribble-drive motion offense and truly knows how to play pace and space basketball and for this I truly believe that she’s an underrated talent. Her statistical numbers are nothing flabbergasting, but a consistent player that you can rely on night in and night out. Last year she averaged 9.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2 steals a game.
Lily Thorpe – Oakes – 5’9 – Lily isn’t a flashy player, but an efficient one. Her role on the team has significantly increased since freshman year as she continues to be a dual threat on the offensive and defensive end of the court. She’s an aggressor that possesses a high basketball IQ. She’s dependable to make the smarter choice on the court and can score in volumes at a high percentage. I think she’s a player that has yet to hit her ceiling and could easily average a double-double this coming year with the loss of senior leader Laikyn Roney. This past season Thorpe averaged 8 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals a game. She’ll most definitely start for the Tornadoes this year at the 3 or 4 spot.
Hailey Berg – Drayton – 5’9 – Hailey is a traditional player that just works extremely hard. She’s got good speed and gets up and down the court with the best of them. I don’t think role players are embraced enough and this is definitely one of those cases. Hailey to me is a coach’s dream of having a player that will go out and do whatever is asked of them in regard to hustle plays, taking a charge, getting the ball back, etc. This past season she averaged 5.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1 steal a game. A highly motivated player that’s strong and physical and fits any teams dynamic in my opinion. I’m definitely looking forward to what she brings to the table for her senior season.
