The level of talent on display was outstanding and every player competed hard from start to finish. The class of 2027 in the Bluegrass State is loaded with prospects that will indeed play at the next level. Check out my standouts from this event.
Highlights
Kyleigh Stakelin Kyleigh Stakelin 5'9" | SF George Rogers Clark (GRC) | 2027 State KY is coming off of a terrific AAU season with Richmond Heat and she continued her high level play at the freshman showcase. Stakelin was on fire from three making multiple shots from deep showing off a really nice shooting stroke. She also showed she can score off the dribble by driving to the basket getting points inside. With her size, length, skill level and scoring ability Stakelin has the potential to be a big time offensive weapon for GRC. (Featured Image)
Zoe Gathright
Zoe Gathright
Zoe Gathright played very well at the freshman showcase competing hard in every game. I like the way she got up and down the floor making herself available to score in transition. Zoe showed off her range as well making several shots from the perimeter. She also made a good effort on the glass fighting for offensive and defensive rebounds.
Lyla Packer is considered to be the top center in the class of 2027. It was obvious that she has really improved and expanded her game during the AAU season. Packer looked dominant in the paint on both ends of the floor. She did a tremendous job protecting the rim, rebounding the ball, and scoring on the low block. But what impressed me the most was her ability to stretch the floor with her outside shooting touch. Packer is becoming more and more versatile which is scary knowing her level of potential. She is in for a big year for Bullitt East this upcoming season.
Carley Boyd Carley Boyd 6'0" | PF Raceland | 2027 State KY is considered to be one of the top wing players in her class. Boyd is a deadly three-point shooter with incredible range from behind the arc. Her height and quick release made it very hard for defenders to get a hand up to contest her shot. Boyd also rebounded the ball at high rate and showed her ability to score inside. She will be joining a Raceland squad that has several players that can really score the basketball. I see Boyd fitting right in and making an immediate impact for the Lady Rams this upcoming season.
