Adarra Vanderford
Vanderford was steady all summer as I watched her progression and she showed that same steadiness to open up the Showcase, however watching her flip the switch and take games over was one of my bright spots to see so let me drop #THROWBACK for that alone, yes that’s another one of my favorite hashtags. She scored off the dribble, the FLOATA was effective, scored around the basket, and even gave me the “hands and footwork”. Watching her create her shot and knock it down with a hand in her face was very nice but another thing that grabbed me was watching her battle for everything off the rim, which also falls under that hashtag
Brooklyn Wong
Wong continues to prove I wasn’t wrong when I saw her I guess 2 or 3 seasons ago playing up and I knew she had the potential to take her game up and away, you probably didn’t catch that but her teammates caught her blistering passes in traffic, yes her court vision is nice but so is her jumper. She does a good job of not only creating her shot but knocking it down from mid to long-range while being defended. Her deceptive first step is nice, and so is the HEZ, some call it the HEZZIE, it’s the hesitation from back in the day but no matter what you call it, you can count on it being one of her go-to moves from here on out
Benita Byrd
Byrd flew in and took control almost off the top and having not seen her all club season gave me a peek at how high I think she will peak, yet I already knew when I first saw her she had that #D1Lock potential and when I say something like that, I have never been wrong because I’m a real evaluator. She patiently sets the defender up to attack the basket and in the blink of an eye, she can blow by them and finish, her body control is also solid, and her finishing off balance after contact will keep getting better. Her crossover and court vision were among the best at the event and she dropped the jumper consistently
Ky’Lee Brown
Brown is a “long and athletic guard” which is also the base and one of the many profiles I love to evaluate for a variety of reasons the novices won’t comprehend yet she also was one of the many NEW FACES, I used the search bar and her name didn’t come up so here’s what GRABBED me. First of all, she does something I love to see and that’s playing the passing lane, yet her “on the ball” defense was smothering as she used her athleticism on both ends of the court quite well. She also scored off the dribble, her first step is powerful, her body control is nice and she finished strongly after the lick
Arianna Robinson Arianna Robinson 5'10" | SG PLANO EAST | 2028 TX
Robinson gets the cover because, well she’s hard to cover, and having already called her a #D1Lock a couple of seasons ago, I sat back and enjoyed watching her progression. Peep this, she almost has the college-ready frame right now and she will be one of the top guards in the country, no ifs, ands, or buts because she can score any way you want it, off the dribble, mid to long-range, putbacks, yes she rebounds on both ends, yet her “on the ball” pressure and quick hands help create turnovers and that and playing the passing lane account for steals and baskets going the other way because she handles the ball afterward and sees the floor for either assist opportunities or just drop it herself, ALL BETS ARE OFF, SCARYB UPSIDE
