This weekend, prospects from all around Illinois will be at our Top 250 to showcase their skillset with scouts and College coaches observing. Below are my picks for top guards to keep an eye on.
A key piece to the Hilltoppers program, Benjamin’s skillset is extensive! Three levels of scoring, strong IQ and the confidence to take risks on the court. She reads the floor well, and knows when to attack and when to play back and set up plays. She’s shifty, coordinated and has multiple gears that she can switch into. Excited to see what she does this HS season.
Highlights
My first time seeing Mikala was at the Batavia HS Live event this past summer and she stuck out immediately. She has great length that’s matched with patience and confidence. Offensively the kid just gets after it. A top 50 spot and a bright future is near for Amegasse.
A frame that can deal with 4/5s, and a solid handle that allows her to play the 2/3. Watter has the ability to stretch the court as well, she can knockdown the long ball(smooth, quick and unbothered release), make the skip pass and still have enough energy to be aggressive at other spots. A for sure new addition to the upcoming rankings update.
Schilb has a motor and an energy about her that can’t be taught. She’s constantly moving and her need to stay active on both sides of the court can’t be denied. Offensively she can get to the rim with a couple moves and can finish with or without contact. Defensively, her speed and discipline are key to her having lockdown moments.
Huff has just a natural feel for the game. Not to mention the length and the athleticism that are aligned with it. As her offensive skillset starts to tighten up, she could be a key factor for all her programs going forward. A player that has tremendous upside.
