Cox Mill HS served as the site for this year’s festivities and it ran simultaneously with the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase. The participants that were on scene at the home venue of the 4A Chargers were divvied up into three teams and each team got to play a grand total of four games.
Without further adieu, here are a few from Saturday’s action that caught my attention – predominantly from Team 2.
Harrison was one of the last players from Team 2 that caught our attention this past Saturday. And this was the case not only for what she does offensively. Harrison also causes problems for many an opposing ball carrier because of her ability to match said ball handler word for word. In addition, Harrison is one who can put the ball through the basket at all three levels – including via an accurate 3-point jumper. We included the standout from 3A East Wake in one of our preview pieces prior to the big day Saturday and she displayed exactly why she will be an asset to the Warriors.

Jones’ team she was part of at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Freshman Showcase put forth a stellar showing and she was one of the main reasons why. She stands at 5-foot-4 and understands the art of drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Jones is a multi-sport athlete whose resume also includes time competing in track and field – those attributes can translate well to the basketball court. Given that her high school team – Mauldin – is the defending 5A state champions in South Carolina, Jones will look to be a key piece in what the Mavericks hope is a successful defense of its crown.

Aniah Love
Aniah Love
In the realm of girls basketball across the Hoop State, Cannon is a program that rings bells from the western mountains to the Outer Banks. Love put together arguably the most impressive performance of anyone on Team 2 – and one of the more impressive ones of the day overall. Defensively, she is difficult to score on – especially in the interior as she combines her 5-foot-7 stature with a wingspan that is prone to blocking shots. Offensively, she can score at all three levels including from behind the 3-point arc. The Cougars have been lately been among the winningest high school programs – private or public – in the state and Love will be sure to keep those winning ways going.
Sydney Sitren
Sydney Sitren
Sitren has experience participating on the travel realm with Lady Attack Elite – one of the premier AAU programs in the state. She is listed at 5-foot-4 and places plenty of emphasis on ball handling. One of the signature elements of the young guard’s game is her ability to drain her attempts from long range and she has no problems drawing contact to give her team chances at the free throw line. Last season, she completed her final campaign at the middle school level at Weddington MS and will bring her litany of talents to the 4A high school squad starting this fall.
Peyton Wood
Peyton Wood
The Jefferson County she will play for beginning this season is not located in either of the Carolinas. Wood arrived at this year’s Carolina Freshman Showcase from Tennessee, but she proved she was not fazed by the longer-than-normal travel. Wood is very confident in her ability to drain her attempts from behind the 3-point line and also has a midrange jumper to go alongside it. Wood is listed at 5-foot-10 but also has an impressive wingspan. She participated on the travel circuit with Tennessee Flight Trotters 2027. There is a reason why Prep Girls Hoops has her as a rising prospect among a 2027 class in a state that is a hotbed for the girls game.
If what we saw out of this rising up-and-comer is any indication of the fortunes awaiting Daniel, it could be a team that ought to be poised to shake up the 3A landscape. The 5-foot-8 standout spent time running with Carolina Clutch on the AAU circuit. Along with scoring ability, Mann also has plenty of speed which can come in useful when operating in the transition game. Her ball handling capabilities come in useful when setting up an offense in the halfcourt and she can also be counted on in the rebounding game. The Lions are poised to spend plenty of time in the win column with Mann joining the ranks.
