I really enjoyed watching the players that I don’t typically get to see throughout the season, as well as seeing improvements from the players that I do get to watch a lot. I got to watch the first three games on court 2 before finishing out the day on court 1. Unfortunately, I only got to watch majority of the teams play one time, but I’m glad I at least got to get a glimpse of everyone that was in attendance. Throughout the day, I took down notes on what I was seeing from each player at the event. Below you will see the notes I got from team 4 at the Top 250 Expo.
Leia Hogan Leia Hogan 5'5" | PG Franklin County | 2025 State KY (#234)
Good quickness. Ran the floor well. Did a great job moving her feet to stay in front defensively. Good drives and finishes on both sides of the rim. Knocked down outside shots. Handled the ball well. Basically did a little bit of everything and really made a lot happen for her team. Really showed she has the potential to take over games on her own.
Kylie Downey Kylie Downey 5'7" | PG North Bullitt | 2026 State KY (#241)
Great court vision and passes. Threw some absolute dimes in every game I caught. Deep range on shot. Great change of pace and use of hesitation moves to get past defenders. Consistently made very smart plays and was an easy standout throughout the day. Also really love how balanced her scoring was with her assists.
Kylie Carby Kylie Carby 5'6" | SG Breckinridge County | 2026 State KY (#288)
Loved the way she didn’t give up and stayed with plays even when it felt like there was no chance of her team coming up with the ball. Kept the ball low on the bounce. Made some great moves down low to score over defenders in the paint. Also had impressive fakes to get defenders off their feet.
Leyla Taylor Leyla Taylor 5'7" | SG J. Graham Brown | 2026 State KY (#295)
Good shot fakes led to open looks. Rebounded well and was consistent in going after rebounds. Showed an ability to guard multiple positions. Knocked down outside shots and her high release made it hard for the defense to block.
Olivia Tierney Olivia Tierney 5'7" | SF Great Crossing | 2024 State KY (#296)
One of the players that consistently stood out throughout the day. Excellent at turning the corner quickly to get past defenders. Has a quick release on her shot. Good ball handling skills. Seemed to get into the paint or to the rim at-will. Crashed the boards hard. Showed a great variety of moves. Excellent speed. Did a great job attacking gaps and finishing in different ways.
Katie Gearlds Katie Gearlds 5'8" | PF Barren County | 2025 State KY (#297)
Good strength and love how physical she plays. Finished strong and through contact on both sides of the basket. Good handles and moves to create space. Moved feet well defensively. Straight up competes hard every second she’s out there. Can’t imagine how you wouldn’t love playing with her because she plays unselfish but recognizes when to take it herself.
Maleiyah Moore Maleiyah Moore 5'8" | SG Scott County | 2025 State KY (#298)
Quick release on shot. Consistently knocked down jumpers throughout the day and knocked them down inside and outside of the perimeter. Moved well and found gaps when she didn’t have the ball in her hands. Great moves to shift defense or to get defenders off their feet. Finished well at the rim.
Paige Steward Paige Steward 5'8" | SG Union County | 2025 State KY (#302)
Made great cuts and finished well around the basket. Didn’t force stuff that wasn’t there and stayed solid on both ends of the court. Was ready to help when teammates got in trouble defensively. Showed that on top of finishing inside, the defense has to respect her outside shot.
