Jayla had an impressive day. She’s a very smooth and fluid athlete and she showed off a nice touch around the basket. She handled the ball well in transition and got to the rim several times. On defense she used her length and footwork to frustrate ball handlers.
Amiyah is an exceptional on ball defender. She has quick hands and great footwork, which complement the tenacity she brought on defense. She gave her team a bunch of solid minutes as a playmaker throughout the day. She should have a great season at St. Maria Goretti.
Christina caught my eye with her jumper. She has a nice quick release and just flicks that wrist effortlessly. She knocked down a couple of threes and really stood out with her athleticism and explosiveness. She was really fast with the ball getting up court and brought energy on defense.
Ava was one of the best players in the event. She went to work early and never let up. She scored effortlessly from all the over the court, and then showed off her playmaking ability as well. She had some nice assists and provided plenty of help on defense too. She should have a huge year for her high school squad.
Highlights
Very confident lead guard with great ball handling skills. She dropped in some long threes to show off her range and used change of pace and direction effectively to get into the paint. She played strong defense, applying ball pressure and turning the ball handlers.
