The Prep Girls Hoops Florida Top 250 Expo took place this past weekend, we break down the performances in the class of 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Class of 2024
Nina Green Nina Green 5'6" | PG Wharton | 2024 State FL 5’6 Guard (Wharton / FGB )
Green was one of the oldest and most experienced players at the showcase and her maturity combined with confidence and skill level stood as, as she was one of the top performers at the Top 250 Expo and in my opinion the top performer in the class of 2024. I have seen Green play and improve over the last 4 years. She is a consistent performer who brings a steady presence on the defensive end, where she does a good job pressuring opposing teams ball handlers, keeping penetration out of the paint, and getting into passing lanes when defending off the ball. Offensively she is a bit of a swiss army knife where she can help and contribute in a variety of ways. Green has solid handle, good 1v1 moves, can get into the paint attacking downhill and creating shots for her teammates and knocks down open shots from the perimeter when left open. In addition to being the top performer in the class of 2024, she is also one of the top unsigned players in the state of Florida.
Class of 2025
Phantasia Lauriston Phantasia Lauriston 5'8" | CG Palm Bay | 2025 State FL 5’8 Guard (Viera HS / East Coast United )
Lauriston was not only the top performer in the class of 2025, in my opinion she was the top overall performer at the entire showcase. I can’t pinpoint one aspect of her game that was exceptional but throughout the day, she was a consistent performer in all aspects of the game and was by far the most productive players at the Top 250 Expo, performing at a high level on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Offensively she filled up the stat sheet using her strong and athletic build to attack off the bounce, get into the paint and score at the rim. When left open, she shot a high percentage from 3, as well as from mid-range off the dribble. Defensively, Lauriston typically matched up against the other team’s top perimeter player and did a good job playing physical and now allowing her opponent to get downhill and into the paint.
Class of 2026
Ashley Martinez Ashley Martinez 5'4" | SG Somerset Silver Palms Academy | 2026 State FL 5’4 Guard (Doral Academy / Miami Impact )
Martinez was the top performer in the class of 2026. The young guard does not seem so young as she has been playing up in high school and on travel circuit for years and plays very mature and wise beyond her years. She is smooth on the court, handling the ball with confidence. Martinez has widely been known as one of the top outside shooters in Florida for several years now, so her confidence with the ball in her hands is a big improvement in her game and makes her much more multi-dimensional. Off the dribble, Martinez showcased a step back both to her left and right and an ability to let it fly from deep, showing off her range. She plays with a ton of confidence, and with her improving her handle, developing her overall skill set to show that she is not just a shooter and can attack off the bounce and has shifty moves with excellent good court vision makes her a marque player to watch in Florida for the next few years!
