She deepened that impression at the Highland Hills Sports Complex. Playing on a team full of players she usually defends and competes against in the regular season, she not only quickly meshed with them. She thrived. Every quarter, she improved. Every minute, she competed. Every second, she impressed. She used a wide range of options to make life miserable for defenders. She showed an athletic build and a great determination. She may not have gotten to the rim whenever she wanted. But, she made an impact on both ends. My favorite part of her game was her multi-faceted scoring attack. She’s just got so many different ways to score. She split defenders in the lane. She faked the pass and went up for a layup. Coaches may want to get a hold of her as soon as possible. She’s also a great softball player, as well.
Della Knight Della Knight 6'0" | PF Hampshire | 2026 State WV , Hampshire, F, 5-9, Fr. – Hampshire head coach Jordan Henderson told me in an interview earlier this year that Knight would make an impact for the Trojans. She showed why during her time in Wheeling. Her offensive and defensive games both showed up. Tasked with guarding many of the notable bigs in the state, she didn’t back down. She moved her feet and used her body intelligently as she closed off the lane from the basket. Her fast feet took away many of the options her defenders likely hoped to us. On top of her quick feet, she made her mark on offense with a number of options to the bucket. She switched hands at the rim and scored. She popped out for a quick 13-foot jumper and scored. Overall, she caused a lot of problems with her length and ability to get the most of said length.
Taysia Gray, Oak Hill, PG, 5-3, Jr. – I didn’t know what to expect from this young lady. Not much tape existed. After her time at the Highland Sports Complex, I know what to expect now. Gray used her speed in several different ways. Several times, she closed the gap between her and a defender at the last moment, thus making the offensive player think twice before shooting the basketball. She found extra bursts of speed to make it to the basket or force the defense to collapse. Most of all, she was deceptive on the court and did a lot of great things you don’t expect from someone that size .. I even saw her block a 5-foot-9 player at the height of her shot attempt. One thing is for sure after her performance: Oak Hill doesn’t have to worry about the point guard position, this winter.
Adrienne Truman Adrienne Truman 5'6" | PG Nicholas County | 2025 State WV , Nicholas County, PG, 5-6, Jr. – Truman’s court awareness is simply marvelous. She knows where her teammates are, she knows where the 3-point line is, and she knows she can make just about anything happen from her point guard position. She sees plays before her teammates. Her passes are pin point. Yet, she can just as easily go from passing point guard to quick attacker off the dribble.
