You won’t see anyone with as much creativity and imagination as Stremlow in Wisconsin. Her ability to make some magic with the ball in her hands is second to none, making her stand out in a crowd of her peers. At any time, she can make the best defenders look like children. She’s been sub 100% these past few seasons. Hopefully, this could be the year we get a season of a healthy Stremlow. At her best, she’s the most talented kid in the Big Eight and can push Verona over the top against anyone the Wildcats line up against.

Johnson had been Wisconsin’s best-kept secret for a long time until she got on the floor with Wisconsin Flight Elite this past summer. She got to attack defenses one-on-one. Johnson’s as good as anyone attacking defenses in isolation. She can shoot it from anywhere on the perimeter, is strong enough to power through contact around the basket, and has the touch to knock down floaters when most players don’t engage her high enough. Minnesota got an absolute steal in Johnson, and she’ll be a difficult matchup for anyone in the Big Ten.

West was one of the leading scorers in the state of Wisconsin last season, and it’s not a surprise. After the senior class in 2022 left, West became the source of offense, and she thrived with that freedom to make things happen. She’s a three-level scorer with a competitive edge that leads her to attack no matter who is in front of her. I watched her excel as the primary offensive option was successful because she seemed comfortable in that role. DePaul has an excellent athlete coming in who can play on both ends of the floor.

Anytime anyone asks me about defensive prospects in Wisconsin, Kelley’s name is always the first one out of my mouth. She does an excellent job setting the tone of a game defensively, covers ground in a hurry on the defensive end, makes plays on and away from the ball, is always engaged, and reads the game on that end of the floor better than anyone. Over the past two years, she’s also improved offensively more than I ever thought possible. If she decides to play at the next level, that program’s defense immediately has its ceiling raised on that end of the floor.

The Hortonville product and future Milwaukee Panther haven’t played a competitive game since early 2023 due to a knee injury. Peppler will bring versatility on the wing for the Polar Bears once she’s back on the floor. She can defend one through four at the high school level due to her lateral quickness and length, and on the offensive end, she can operate in the paint, finish through traffic, and knock down a high percentage of her perimeter jumpers. There’s a legitimate case that Hortonville would’ve won the D1 title last season with Peppler, and hopefully, we’ll see how far they can go with her this season.
