Here are some newbies we thought would be a great read for those that are subscribed to our site. Here we go and hope you enjoy.
2025, 5’11, CG, Orangewood Academy HS, Maria Mejia Maria Mejia 5'11" | PF Orangewood Academy | 2025 State CA
Maria is an all purpose guard that can score for her team and also rebound with the best of them at her height, she has a good body type for her size and can keep defenders at bay in the paint. She runs the floor well and can catch and finish, she also is pretty good at knocking down freethrows, I believe she shot over 90% from the line last year, would have to check that, but the stats say it very clearly for us. She is a team leader and is very vocal on the floor, encouraging her teammates to make good plays, we love this from her.
2024, 5’3, PG, Orangewood Academy HS, Jamaica Cheatham Jamaica Cheatham 5'5" | PG Orangewood Academy | 2024 State CA
Jamaica is a dynamic point guard that gets out on the floor and runs her coaches sets to perfection, she is a good lead guard that knows how to command a team. She is quick and craftly with the ball and she can score in a variety of ways as well, cause she has a good basketball IQ on the floor. We love her tenacity on the defensive side of the floor, she gets after her opponents and is one of the better ballhogs on the court. She is expected to have a phenomanal year for her team this season.
2024, 6’0, CG, Troy HS, Annika Jiwani Annika Jiwani 5'11" | SF Pacifica Christian | 2024 State CA
Annika is a nightmare for anyone trying to guard her, she is straight ruthless when it comes to scoring the ball at any level. We watched her bury a few just over the half court line shots from deep and it was nothing but twine, WET… This kids range is unmatched this season, if this is normal for her and it looks like it is, she is gonna be a zone buster by herself, she has a nice stroke from anywhere on the floor, this kid can play, she can put up numbers on you in a hurry. Coaches, if you are not aware of this one, get your OFFERS ready, this kid can shoot it, and college basketball is in need of shooters.
2027, 6’0, PF, Etiwanda HS, Aliyah Phillips Aliyah Phillips 6'2" | PF Etiwanda | 2027 State CA
Aliyah is the one this year we will have to watch closely with the defending State Champions, she is a young developing forward and she is coming along quite nicely. Her coach Stan Delus has a lot of faith in her and she will be in the heavy rotation for her team this season, we loved the tenacity and the versatility we saw from her this weekend. She is long and lanky and she has nice soft hands to catch passes in the paint and she can move out to the midrange and knock down shots. This kid is going to be special, watch this one this season, she is the TRUTH.
