All of these teams have core players that are the heart of the team and new players that are hungry to make a name for themselves. It should be a good season of basketball with the talent that spans across the this class. Let’s take a look at some of the top teams set to challenge for the title.
Averill Park
Averill Park is led by senior Taylor Holohan Taylor Holohan 6'1" | PF Averill Park | 2024 State NY . Holohan is a versatile threat that can spearhead an offense and lead the defensive attack. Averill Park finished the season at 22-3 and returns a deep and talented roster capable of repeating their success from last season. They play swarming defensive, look to create turnovers and push the break. This team is about the team and plays unselfish basketball, no big egos, good ball movement to find the right shot on the offensive end, and can light it up from the perimeter as well.
Walter Panas (Cortland Manor)
Panas returns two players that have a chance to make some noise this season with Kiara Williams and Cadence Nicholas Cadence Nicholas 5'9" | SG Walter Panas | 2025 State NY . This team was 23-6 last season and Williams is set to take a commanding role on her team and cement herself as one to watch for this upcoming season. Nicholas is no slouch either, she brings intensity and leadership and is the glue that holds this team together with her relentless defense. This team likes to shoot it from the perimeter and get after it on defense. They can block shots, make quick reads on switches, create turnovers, and run in the open court.
Williamsville South
Williamsville South is coming off a dominant season where they went 21-2 and will look keep the foot on the pedal this upcoming season. This is a deep team and loaded roster with players like Gretchen Dolan, Leah Solomon (13PPG), and Kimora Berry Kimora Berry 5'8" | SF Williamsville South | 2025 State NY (11PPG). Dolan was dynamic last season averaging 39 points per game and will be relied on again to carry the offense from the perimeter and in the paint. Solomon and Berry will lead the defensive attack and providing depth, blocking shots, and create turnovers. This is a deep roster that can get contributions from a lot of different players.
Walkill
Walkill is coming off an impressive 20-4 season last year. Zoey Mesuch and Emma Spindler are ones to keep an eye out for as they will look to lead the charge. This team plays strong defense with an emphasis of protecting the paint and cleaning up on the glass. On the offensive end, they play a simple offensi they look to get buckets in all sorts of ways. This team is quick and aggressive in their defensive assignments, turning defense into offensive on the break, cleaning up on the glass, and protecting the paint.
