The talent pool is deep with history and tradition of great guards from the past, this pool of prospects has the chance to be special. Our preseason previews will highlight the depth and buzz that they will bring when they step on the court this season. Let’s take a look in no particular order.
Koval is headed to South Bend to play for Notre Dame next season for Coach Ivey. She is a force in the paint and shows great finishing touch and footwork around the rim and in the post. Runs the floor well, sets great screens, and can roll off picks slashing her way to the basket. She has good handle, loves to attack the basket, and create second chance opportunities. She has room to grow on the defensive end with her rim protection, but still is a force on both ends with the ability to alter the game.
Savannah Swords

Like her big sis, Swords is a dynamic wing that is only going to continue getting better. She played for Canada this past summer and has no limit on her ceiling of how good she can be. Swords can shoot the rock and has the handle to disrupt defenses the way she sees fit. She is a pure hooper who plays the game with high IQ. The opportunity for Swords to lead a team probably won’t come this season with loaded LuHi roster that includes her sister, Syla, but as she continues her ascent with more meaningful reps, she has all the makings to be one of the best in her class when it’s all said and done.

Swords has good athleticism mixed with court vision and playmaking ability. Prioritizes making her team better but can also takeover a game when she needs to. She can play on or off the ball and will be one of the best catch and shoot threats this season. Shows great accuracy and range on her shot, couple with her pro ready mechanics on her shot, and it’s not difficult to see why she loves to hoop. Loves to come around on hook screens and make the call on whether to drive or dish. Gets after it defensively, plays with high motor and not afraid to make the extra play.
Hayes is dynamic wing player that brings a lot of versatility. She is a competitor and wants to win. She has great vision, IQ, handle, and balance on the ball who can run the point and facilitate for high % shots to her teammates. he can score at all three levels. Has a chance to be special on defense, plays physical and can guard any position. She is a difference maker with her active hands and rim protection to make big plays.
