At this year’s rendition, the many participants that made the trek to the LakePoint Sports Complex – located northwest of Atlanta around Cartersville and Emerson – were sorted into 10 teams. Three of the many courts located at the venue were utilized for this year’s festivities.
There was plenty of talent that was placed on Team 6. Without further adieu, here is a look at a few of those standouts.
At times, there can be standouts who play on less-than-stellar teams and average players who play on good or great teams. Wyman is a definite standout who was part of a 6A Lassiter rendition that finished with a 22-6 record the previous campaign. Travel-wise, she participates with FBC ‘ last=’Legacy’] GUAA as part of its 16U team this past spring and summer. Throughout her career, she has shown improvement as a scorer – and it has resulted in an increase in playing time. Wyman has also displayed development as a rebounder and as a passer. She displays an ability to score at all three levels – including from behind the 3-point line and at the foul line.
If the production Clifton displayed at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Georgia Top 250 Expo is indicative of what 5A Northside fans can expect, her Patriots will surely build on last season’s success. That success included the Patriots finishing with a 21-7 record before Clifton took to the travel circuit to participate with Team SSB. She stands at 5-foot-11 and used every single bit of that height advantage – whether it was as a scorer or as a rebounder. Clifton displays plenty of confidence where she will call for the ball when she knows she can make a play and can make plays on either offense or defense with the steals she can collect.
Anderson displayed throughout the day exactly why she earned team captaincy duties at 2A Columbia. She also showcased exactly why her Eagles finished with a 20-8 record last season. She is coming off a stint during the travel months of spring and summer where she wore the uniform of FBC ‘ last=’Legacy’]. She managed to be an efficient playmaker – not only with her scoring which included connecting on a couple of 3-pointers. She has also proven that she can be an effective rebounder and can create additional possessions for her team with her defense. Anderson’s Columbia bunch will be heading into the 2023-24 season with increased expectations since it only graduated three seniors from last season’s rendition.
Paula Robertson
Paula Robertson
Robertson’s Team 6 was one of the first six teams to take to the court for this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Georgia Top 250 Expo. Her team was matched up against Team 5 to begin this year’s festivities. A good bulk of her points came at the free throw line, but that is often an overlooked attribute of a player. Typically, close games come down to foul shooting. Her coaches – either at 2A Union County or at her travel team – Peak Performance – could tell one that. Robertson stands at 5-foot-10 and that height advantage can come in useful when a team is looking to develop a strong rebounding edge.
