These exceptional athletes showcase their outstanding skills, dedication, and unwavering commitment to their craft. With just two months to go until the 2023-2024 season kicks off, we take a look at some players who are sure to make waves throughout the Garden State this winter and potentially land themselves on the elusive First Team.
Mikayla Blakes Mikayla Blakes 5'8" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2024 State NJ | Rutgers Prep | Sr.
One of the most electrifying guards in the country, Mikayla’s elite skill set is one you have to witness in person. From her flashy layup package, to her smooth mid-range jumper, to the deep ball well behind the arc, she puts on a show and dazzles the crowd. Last season with the Argonauts of Rutgers Prep, she averaged 22 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and just under 5 rebounds per contest, leading them to a 25-5 record and a Non-Public B State Final. Racking up numerous post-season accolades in the process, including a First Team selection, being at the pinnacle of the sport isn’t uncharted territory for Mikayla. She expects nothing less than excellence!
Mia Pauldo Mia Pauldo 5'7" | CG Morris Catholic | 2025 State NJ | Morris Catholic | Jr.
The Puma brand baller is coming for everything that’s rightfully hers this year! One of the flashiest hoopers around, Mia’s shake-and-bake handles have been snatching ankles across the Garden State for two seasons now and she’s not taking her foot off the gas anytime soon! Last season saw Morris Catholic ascend to new heights with the Crusaders attaining a national ranking, claiming the Non-Public B State title in March and making an appearance in the prestigious State Champions Invitational. After posting averages of 17.6 ppg, 3.11 rpg, 5.2 apg and 3.3 spg last season, Mia looks to turn up the heat even more in Year 3 and add another All-State First Team accolade to her long list of honors.
Daniella Matus Daniella Matus 5'10" | CG St. John Vianney | 2025 State NJ | St. John Vianney | Jr.
New team, who this? Daniella made the trek from Denville to Holmdel to join the Lady Lancers for the upcoming hoops season and will look to carry over that same firepower and efficiency she displayed last year with Morris Catholic. One of the hottest shooters in the state, Daniella is downright deadly from deep! A spot-up sharpshooter, she is almost automatic from the mid-range and hard to extinguish once she catches fire. Coming off a season where she averaged nearly 15 points per game (including just under three 3-pointers per game), she looks to ramp it up even more and solidify herself as one of the premier guards in New Jersey.
Te’Yala Delfosse Te’Yala Delfosse 6'2" | SF Ewing | 2024 State NJ | Ewing | Sr.
The recent Michigan commit is one of the most versatile players in the state, boasting a tenacious two-way game and contagious confidence. She’s as dominant commanding the paint as she is pulling up from way outside, with an impressive 129 of her 524 points last season coming from behind the arc. Long, lean with excellent lateral movement, she uses her lengthy wingspan to disrupt passing lanes and swat shots around the rim. She looks to build on a high school career that so far has seen her total 1,006 points (including 75 made 3-pointers), 564 rebounds, 194 assists, 112 blocks and 251 steals.
Morgan Marshall Morgan Marshall PG University | 2024 State NJ | University | Sr.
Last season saw Morgan lead the Phoenix to a 27-6 record and Group 1 State title, averaging 13.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.9 apg and 4.1 spg. Quick, aggressive and ultra-competitive, she has a knack for getting to the rim and scoring at will. Her scrappy and aggressive ball pressure makes her a premier defender on top of being a formidable scoring threat.
