I recently shined a spotlight on Drakeford as a possible breakout candidate for this season and I have high expectations for AK moving into her Senior season and having to replace the production lost with Timberlynn (Buffalo) and Teigh (GRC) Yeast both leaving Mercer County over the summer. Anna Kate is a big time scorer and a good shooter. She’ll have to shoulder a massive burden this season but I think she’s capable.
Highlights
Gibson was the second leading scorer behind Noelle Hubert last season and is more than ready to step into the spotlight as a Junior. Gibson provides a steady interior presence as well as being an above average rebounder and shot blocker. When Sophia fully unlocks her skill set, she projects as a face up 5 who can comfortably stretch out to the three point line.
Mercy has been hit harder than anyone in the state by the transfer portal and graduation but Abby is ready for a bigger role for a team that will desperately need her to step up on offense to keep the Lady Jags relevant in the regional title hunt. She’s unlikely to replace the production of all the defections (that would be impossible) but Reitzel could make her claim to be the best 2026 in Louisville.
Highlights
This is almost like a bonus pick because Emma Filiatreau actually went D1 in Equestrian but she was a heck of a basketball player too! Carlie Thurmond Carlie Thurmond 5’7″ | PG Bethlehem | 2024 State KY has been in our rankings for years and been a top 2024 since she started playing high school basketball. Carlie is committed to Morehead State for soccer and could easily help their basketball team as well with her shooting and scoring abilities.
