Abby made her commitment to Indiana Tech University a little over a month ago. Last season, she led Mercy with 15.4 points per game, helping the Jaguars capture both the district and region titles and make that special trip to Rupp Arena. She’s poised for a big senior season and looks to be the front-runner for 6th Region Player of the Year.

Abby has great size and length, along with a calm, collected approach to the game. She knows when to take over offensively, showcasing a smooth outside shot and the ability to attack off the bounce. On defense, she uses her length and active hands to come up with steals and deflections. Abby’s versatility allows her to play both on and off the ball, and she shows a willingness to rebound and distribute as well. She’s playing for WV Thunder 2026 S40 this spring/summer. Reitzel from downtown! And other one from 3 point land! It doesn’t take long for Abby to find her groove, because she has the shooter’s touch from deep! No hesitation in her game, keeps her poise, and takes care of the rock! There’s not a shot she doesn’t like!

Abby is the top dog for a reloading Mercy roster that is young but has a lot of talent. A good shooter and slasher, Reitzel is a certified bucket getter who is comfortable playing with the ball in her hands or off the ball looking to knock down shots.

Mercy has been hit harder than anyone in the state by the transfer portal and graduation but Abby is ready for a bigger role for a team that will desperately need her to step up on offense to keep the Lady Jags relevant in the regional title hunt. She’s unlikely to replace the production of all the defections (that would be impossible) but Reitzel could make her claim to be the best 2026 in Louisville.

Reitzel is another glue type of player. She is going to work extremely hard when she’s on the court and she will do all of the little things that are asked of her. She crashes the boards strong, she works defensively, she sees the floor, and she doesn’t force stuff that isn’t there. When I got to see her play this summer, it was obvious that she’s been putting in a ton of work this offseason. She was never a bad ball handler, but there were times she looked hesitant with pressure in the past and I didn’t see any hesitation from her this summer. Made great passes, consistently ran the floor, and did a great job of knocking down shots quickly. Also made some strong drives. Reitzel came off the bench and contributed valuable minutes in her freshman season, but she is poised to play a much larger role for Mercy this upcoming season.

I actually just wrote about Reitzel when discussing the top 10 players in the 2026 class, so I won’t go too far in depth here, but I walked away very impressed with the improvements she’s made since the end of the season. When it came to ball handling drills, her handles really stood out to me. She is just such a solid player on both ends of the floor and I love the versatility in her game.

I swear I’ve said this more times than I can count, but it continues to ring true, so I’ll say it again: Reitzel is a player that seems to have improved every single time I watch her play. And that’s saying a lot considering she’s a player we’ve continuously seen as a top ten player in the 2026 class. In her freshman season at Mercy, I watched Reitzel be an excellent role player. She would provide defensive stops and energy while knocking down open shots and making good passes offensively. The one area that I really wanted to see her improve was her ball handling in live game situations. Watching her Saturday at Hoops Mafia’s BOKY event, it was clear she’s done that. The sky is the limit for Reitzel, who averaged 3.5 PPG and 1.6 RPG in her freshman season.

Mercy is very young but loaded with talent that should blossom over the coming years. Reitzel has the tools to be a disruptive force on both ends of the court thanks to her offensive skills and her ability to switch and guard multiple positions on the defensive end. Abby has had a little bit of a slow start for Mercy this year but long term, she’s going to be a D1 player.
