I was able to check out PEM Sports Smoke Session Fall League yesterday. I was excited seeing some new freshmen (and an eighth grader) that should be put on your radar. Let’s take a look.

Brooklyn Young Brooklyn Young 5’9″ | CG Palisades | 2027 NC showed off her range shooting the ball from deep. Her hands were always involved on defense using her length to deflect some passes and grab the steal. She had a nice hesitation move making her defender lose their balance and attacking the basket for some points.

Sabrina Alessandro Sabrina Alessandro 5’5″ | PG Marvin Ridge | 2027 NC was smooth and remained calm with her handles creating her own lanes and attacking the basket. She even did a nice job crashing the boards and grabbing rebounds extending offensive plays. She was attacking the paint making the defense crash as she made the pass to her open teammates underneath the basket for the shot. She showed off her own ability to make the shot from deep including the game winning shot in overtime.

Allie Heine Allie Heine 5’6″ | SG Marvin Ridge | 2027 NC had a lot of energy doing the little things for her team like getting inside for rebounds and busting these out as her own outlet pushing the tempo. She was another ball handler her team was using facilitating plays and getting some movement for her team. She did a nice job sliding in the passing lanes grabbing steals, and she immediately knew what to do with these pushing it right up the court.
Kyilah Brown was showing so much versatility on the defensive side of the ball knowing exactly how to guard someone posting up on her on the block sneaking around and grabbing the steal. On offense, she did a nice job sliding to the openings, catching the pass, and going to work creating space to put up her shot. She is feisty with her ball handling knowing how to get around her defenders.
Aaliyah Mack was tough in the paint getting rebound after rebound, and she was sure to score off offensive boards. She brought a lot of life to her team in the second half making plays on multiple levels getting the ball through the hoop including showing off a nice jumper elevating over her defenders. She had some nice moves attacking the basket finishing at the rim even with some nice three point plays.
