I also caught a few new faces and some I had seen little of before, yet here are my Top Performers that stood out. Have no fear, every player was evaluated, stay tuned, and if you can’t wait, get some rest, Night Night, it will be posted later
Mychal White Mychal White 5'7" | CG Summer Creek | 2024 State TX (2024)
White is setting the stage for an explosive senior season at Summer Creek, one of the top squads in the Houston area over the past few seasons. Her explosiveness has always been a problem for defenders as she has that “turbo” to accelerate and leave them cemented to the court to score in transition. She also does a good job attacking in the set, nice body control helps her finish after contact. I tweeted “She’s done everything but drop the 3 at the buzzer” or something like that, then she does it but her energy on both ends is contagious
Marckalia Celestine (2025)
Celestine is not only “long and athletic” which is the base, but she also stands over “the magic number” which is 6’0, and at around 6’2, her “college-ready body” will attract many next-level coaches who know what they’re looking at. Her “hands and footwork” have continued to get better and it’s creating problems for defenders, she’s strong and goes after EVERYTHING off the rim. She also showed me something different, she handled the ball after rebounding which was huge but she also scored off the dribble to score. Her timing to “block, alter and (or) deflect shots also needs to be mentioned
Jazmyne Gilbert Jazmyne Gilbert 5'8" | SG Heights | 2025 State TX (2025)
Gilbert is a “long and athletic” guard which is also the base yet she can turn up the volume in the blink of an eye, yet don’t blink, you might miss something. You surely don’t want to close your eyes if you’re guarding her, she can blow by the defender off the dribble with either hand, and her COP, “change of pace”, in transition, may have defenders calling the law for help. Her stop-and-pop jumper is very nice, and so are her acrobatic finishes but she plays solid “on the ball” defense and her quick hands help her come up with steals, so does playing the passing lane
Chardel Terrell Chardel Terrell 5'6" | CG Clear Brook | 2025 State TX (2025)
Terrell is another “long and athletic” guard who has added even more to her game but one thing is for certain, she enjoys bringing heat and applying pressure and her “never takes a play off” mindset stands out with her “on the ball” defense baseline to baseline. She plays the passing lane and handles the ball afterward to score or dish but she also has good court vision in the set. Her first step is more than solid, she finishes strongly but her pull-up jumper is also a plus a she drops it with a hand in her face. She also hit the boards and even gave me the “catch and shoot” I enjoy seeing from players
Addisyn Parker Addisyn Parker 5'6" | CG La Porte | 2024 State TX (2024)
Parker was added to the Top 100 on my last update, primarily because she can score multiple ways while being defended, and with her showing “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” it was an easy add-on. Fast forward to the event, her body control after contact is even better than I thought yet she’s also stronger than I realized. Her mid to long-shooting is nice and she does a good job of creating her shot and getting it off under pressure. She also showed me the “step back” which was solid, and so was her court vision both in the set as well as in the open court
