Ramirez is a player I’ve enjoyed watching since the spring season. She is relentless on both sides of the ball. Although her offensive game sticks out more, she is willing to put in the work on the defensive end as well. Ramirez can shoot the three ball. Perhaps it’s her strength but she has improved several areas of her game to increase her confidence. Another part of her game that she’s developed is her ability to facilitate the offense. Even though it’s not one of her primary tasks, she is capable of doing so if needed. She transferred to South Shore and will look to contribute right away. With one of the country’s best backcourts, she’ll need to “hit the ground running” to make a name for herself. She certainly has the potential to do so. She played a lot this summer, helping Gersh Park to retain the title in the NY vs NY tournament. Keep an eye out on her.
Grace Lanier
Grace Lanier
When I see Lanier in action, her strengths outweighs her weaknesses. She is explosive, intelligent, and patient – all of which are requirements to facilitate an offense. However, Lanier is more than that. She is a guard who can shoot the three ball with ease. She can also pass it out if she’s being double teamed. She never backs down from her opponents as she has many ways to exploit a defense. Her tight handle also allows her to create separation. She is a player you would love as a teammate but hate to play against. Its simple; If you leave her open, she will knock down the shot. It is difficult to anticipate what she will do next because she is always two steps ahead. She can also finish with both hands. She was named to the CHSAA Tier 1 All-League First Team. She also featured in the NY vs NY games – winning the 1v1 contest.

Rippey is a standout. The left-handed guard/forward is a pest on the defensive end. She disrupts the flow of her opponents’ offense due to her constant pressure on the ball. She also uses her height to her advantage. She attacks the paint consistently and finishes most of her attempts. She can score on all three levels. She is quick off the dribble and difficult to contain on fast breaks. Rippey is also fearless and takes pride in contesting every 50-50 ball. She averaged 14 rebounds last season. She also averaged 24 points per game. Expect her to continue to garner attention this fall and beyond.
