Chaney has been a steady playmaker out on the perimeter, proving effective at getting downhill when the opportunity presents itself. With her quick first step and consistency at staying ready for the next pass, the guard has been notably impactful throughout individual showcase events and team events. Chaney is already a well-rounded scoring option who rarely forces shot attempts, no doubt she will sneak into an opportunity this season. She should be a consistent complementary playmaker when needed, taking part in Cherokee Trail’s fairly equal opportunity offense. Defensively, she is quick enough to defend both backcourt positions, staying handsy if necessary to tip away the ball.
Slater is particularly assertive while attacking downhill, showing a willingness to stay physical on drives. The guard does well picking right angles, getting straight to the rim. Having no trouble taking bumps from the nearest defender, Slater invites contact to draw fouls or leverage position around the basket. Not just a downhill scorer, the guard maintains gravity through her floor spacing, effective off the catch.
Highlights
Budler is a dynamic guard who has plenty of consistency handling the ball under pressure, effective reading the floor for driving lanes. Capable of utilizing an array of combo moves to free up space, the guard will be a valuable ball handler in due time. Active flowing into short floaters or jumpers, Budler is comfortable flowing into off-balance attempts when provided the space. Following the departure of multiple key seniors, the guard could have a shot as a rotation player on one of the state’s most talented programs.
Highlights
Pelster has been impactful playing up against older opponents, notably actively attacking the rim or facilitating entry passes. The guard clearly understands her role within the offense, maximizing skills that are mutually beneficial between herself and the team. She is constantly seeking drives towards the rim, attacking out of the triple threat where she has a quick first step on the initial attack. Although proactive in getting downhill, Pelster understands how to set up post scorers in advantageous positions, carefully waiting until they are in position or against a smaller matchup. No doubt the guard will find a way to be impactful within her role with Mullen, which remains one of 6A’s top programs.
Highlights
Abdur-Razaaq is a steady guard adept at making the next play, constantly surveying the floor for another opportunity. Effective utilizing multiple combo moves to free up space on the drives, the guard has an impactful playstyle that has greater room for leverage down the line. Exciting season ahead for Overland, who boasts greater opportunities for a few swing factors.
Jordan brings a steady pace of play among backcourt prospects, capable of stepping into shot attempts off the bounce if available. Already showing consistency spacing the floor on spot-up attempts, the guard has a chance to be a very impactful playmaker over the coming seasons with Northfield. Rebounding is another area of intrigue, where she always roams around to contribute second chance opportunities.
