SubscribeThe 2027 class is filled with prospects from all over the state. This class will no doubt leave an impression on the high school basketball scene this upcoming season. While most will need a little time to adjust to the varsity level, there are some that will step in right away and contribute for contenders, and some may even start.
Here, I take a look at five of the top freshmen in the state.
Caia Campbell Gilbert
This savvy freshman brings Grind Session experience to the Tigers, and it shows in her game. Caia will bring shooting, excellent court vision, and toughness to the team the second she steps on the court. She might surprise some people who haven’t seen her play yet.
Kinsey MurrayValley Vista
Murray could very well be the top freshman in the state. Her handle and passing ability is already above most older players. The more her offensive game develops, the more dangerous she’ll become. She should be a key piece in the Monsoon, making another deep run.
Tamia Pietila Miami
The lefty guard steps into 2A and is immediately one of the best players. Her court feel and IQ gives her an advantage over most players, but she is also very skilled. She is a good passer with excellent court vision and has range out to the three-point line.
Dashia Richardson Millennium
Richardson steps in and helps ease some of the ball-handling duties off of Elli Guiney. Dashia is a confident point guard who looks to set up her teammates. She is also very disruptive with her on-the-ball defense.

Lily has already shown that she’s ready to take on a leadership role for the Saints. She’s fearless and doesn’t back down from a challenge. If her performance at the Border League is any indication, she will make a big splash in her freshman season.
