The event always features some of the top teams and talent in the Southern California area. The tournament runs from Nov. 20-25. I was able to attend the event on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and here’s a focus on some of the top wing scorers I saw.
1.
Jordin Blackmon

What was most impressive to me about Blackmon was her ability to draw fouls. Throughout the game I saw, she was consistently able to get to the free throw line off attacking the basket. She can handle the ball and she can create her own shot. She can play off ball too especially on the break sprinting out as a finisher. Able to shoot the ball as well.
2. Daysia Almendarez – Pioneer 2025
Almendarez is a quick ball-handler with good scoring instincts. She’s fearless and consistently took the ball to the rim against bigger defenders. She knows how to draw fouls at the basket and get to the free-throw line. Good ball-handler who was always in attack mode. She plays well in transition pushing the pace and putting pressure on the defense getting downhill.

Reed is a solid point guard for a young player but she can score the ball as well. I’ve seen her play both guard positions and she can be comfortable looking for her own offense. She can shoot off the dribble in the midrange and she knock down three-point shots off the catch. She pushes the pace and can find teammates on the break.
4.
Sydnee Norwood

Norwood is a player I’ve seen once before, and she has refined offensive game. She’s kind of a tweener in between being a wing player and a post. She can finish through traffic at the basket and she can establish position in the paint. She can also face up and shoot the midrange jumper. She knows how to create her own shot and she’s got a versatile offensive skill-set.
