Many of the teams that make it to state have girls on their squad who just “show up” and go to work. It’s like they know what is on the line, the importance of it, and no matter their role, they do it to the best of their ability and then some. These girls are skilled in their own right, but are just solid all around ball player who are very detailed oriented.
Let me clarify. These young ladies are blessed with talent, but will go out and execute the coach’s plan to a T. They are going to do what is asked, and will leave it all out on the line for their ball club. It may be being a dominant scorer one night, it may be locking down someone on defense, it maybe a selfless play that enables a better opportunity for a teammate. It is something that speaks to player such as these young ladies who compete and bring it on a nightly basis. No fuss, just show up and compete.
Here are some young ladies who stood out in my mind as “lunch pail” kind of girls. Kids who come ready to do their job and provide a spark for their ball club.
Aisha Patel Aisha Patel 6'0" | PF Bearden | 2025 State TN (6 ‘1/F/ Bearden)– Blessed with size, she can score from the mid-range and the paint, but contributing on the boards and defending has gotten her noticed. She steps into a even bigger role this year and she is ready to fill those shoes. The kid is hungry and hasn’t reached her full potential yet. Once she gains a solid footing, this kid will be a force to be reckoned with.
Abby Bryan Abby Bryan 5'10" | SF Lincoln County | 2025 State TN (5’10/F/ Lincoln Co.)- Tough hard working kid who is a total gym rat. Every year, she just keeps getting better and better. She’s a scorer who can do it from all 3 levels, but it is her defense and tenacity that sets her apart. Heady ball player who is growing into an X factor for her high school team. She has the makeup and size to be one of the premier players in her class. This will be a coming out year for her and just you watch, her stock is going to shoot up the charts in more ways than one. College coaches, keep your eyes on this young lady.
Laila Wilder Laila Wilder 5'7" | SG Stewart's Creek | 2025 State TN ( 5’7/ G/ Stewart’s Creek)– Solid kid who just gets after it. Has a motor on her, that enables her to do so many things. Offensively, she can get to the rim, step into the mid-range area, or let it fly from deep. Defensively, she is going to sit down and guard, getting steals and deflections by the bunches. Solid kid who is looking to take the next step towards greatness. Brings energy to the floor every time she laces up her shoes. Hungry kid who is poised for a breakout year.
Alessia Nesbitt Alessia Nesbitt 5'9" | SF Creek Wood | 2025 State TN (5’9/ G/ Creek Wood)– Solid fundamental kid who is a big deal around her area. The kid is a true competitor who is feisty. A multi-level scoring threat who plays the game with a heart and passion. Will do anything and everything to help her ball club. No matter the situation, you know Alessia is going to be in the mix. She’s a heady ball player who does an excellent job of taking what she learns in practice or in a training session and applies that to the game. She’s a coach’s dream as she tries to execute things to a T. She’s a selfless leader who is looking to increase her stock and bring something special back to her high school.
Miah Cabale Miah Cabale 5'6" | PG Page | 2025 State TN (5’6/G/Page)– Solid kid who will one day bust out. Tough competitor who can drop dimes like no other. Not only can she do that, add scoring the rock from deep or in the paint as well. Great in the pick n’roll game, she knows how to create space, handle pressure, execute play calls, and just flat out compete. Will take the challenge of guard the other team’s best player. Either way, with more court time on the way, she’s going to gain the necessary confidence to be a solid contributor for years to come.

(6’0/F/Trezvant)– She’s on the come up this season. Blessed with size and length, this kid is hungry and will be one of the leading catalysts to her ball club’s attack. She’s money from the field, but what’s impressive is her ability to compete on the defensive end. Grabbing boards, blocking shots, ect., this girl is going to help her team reach new heights this season. The scoring is going to be there, but look for her to be a leader in another statistical category as well. Great prospect who will be a big time player when it is all said and done.
