SubscribeOn Saturday, the Madison Plains Girls Basketball Preview was held in Madison County, a small area in London Ohio and 19 teams particitaped in the event that saw teams play two quarters to prepare for the start of the season. Over the next few days, I will bring you some of the players who caught my attention as I was in attendance for the entire day.
Today I will look at some of the freshman who performed well as they look to begin their high school career this week.
Ava is a skilled player coming into her freshman season, and it was the first time I had seen her play. She is the daughter of the head coach and has a good basketball IQ with court sense and a poise that many freshman don’t have. She is able to score from the periemter, can knock down the three, and on the other side of the ball, knows where to be on defense. She will be one of the freshman to watch in 2023-24.

Teaming up with Ava at Legacy, those two could have a very profitable four years at Legacy Christian, a small school in Xenia. She is another strong 2027 with a smooth outside jumper and she elevates well on her shot from the baseline. She is able to run the floor well and her fundamentals are good for her age. She has a good passion for the game and like Ava, she will continue to grow her game.

She is a player who I would guess should continue to improve as she gets experience, and learns the speed of the game at the high school level. She is a good, strong physical player who is able to get shots off at the rim and does a nice job finishing. Also able to rebound and is able to play physical when needed. She just needs time to learn the high school game.
Maddy Miller
Maddy Miller
As a freshman, Maddy is still learning like every other freshman but she does show some confidence which I am sure she gets from having to step in and contribute right away at Fairlawn. She does a good job setting screens and moves well without the ball. Her moves around the rim aren’t bad and she will continue to work to improve her contribution.

Greenon fans will love her game! Cassidy is a very dedicated freshman who should have a big impact on the Knights success this season. She has good range and is not afraid to let it fly from the periemter. Also good court vision to find the open shot, the coaches have been waiting for her. Now it is just making the right adjustments to this level and contributing.

Time will tell how much she will contribute to the team as a freshman, but if Saturday was any indication of things to come, she can make an impact. She has a good perimeter game, knocking down a couple of threes in their game. She has a good catch-and-shoot game. Her game will get better as she gains experience.
Let me tell you abour this young lady. As a freshman, Paisley showed very good poise and composure during this level, and she adjusted well to playing against the older players. She can play in any style and does a nice job distributing the ball and running the floor. She plays for Arctic Rush and now it;s her turn to step onto center stage.
