SubscribeProvidence Day hosts a Super Scrimmage every year that is certainly one of the best preseason days of action when it comes to high school girls basketball in the state of North Carolina. It’s a great look into how high school teams are going to look this upcoming year. What adjustments did they make in the off season? What players are stepping up after losing senior leadership from the previous season? Let’s take a look at some of the senior play makers who knew how to make things happen for their teams.

Emma Wagoner
Emma Wagoner
Emma Wagoner was showing off her ability to score getting the pass starting with her back to the basket. She had a nice drop step move stepping around her defender and scoring off the glass. She had some range with her shot, too, hitting a nice three pointer right when her team needed some energy.
Kiersten Varner was showing off her versatility. She knocked down a three pointer on one end. Then, she hustled back on defense blocking a shot stopping a fast break. She was getting inside for rebounds, and she would handle the ball well up the court letting plays develop. She doesn’t back down from contact staying focused as she goes up for some fast break points.
Laniya Scales was all over the court on defense deflecting passes, blocking shots, and crashing boards to grab the rebound. She did a nice job serving in the help role sliding into the path of her opponents trying to attack the basket. She knocked down her shot from deep as well.
Highlights
Jerin Truesdale is such a play maker. She makes moves with the ball finding the openings and attacking the gaps. Her sharp passes to her teammates as they cut to the basket is certain to lead to some points for her team. She attacked the basket herself scoring old fashioned three point plays through contact as she drove baseline with her spin move.
