Laniya Scales was using her length to knock away the ball and grab some steals. She easily blocks shots, too, protecting the basket. On the other end, that length is a nice asset to have on pick and roll plays being able to hit her over the top to score points at the rim. She’s tough attacking the basket scoring three finishing from the free throw line.

Laniya Scales is another versatile player on here that has shown off her athleticism and ability to elevate over her opponents for her shot her entire high school career. She knows how to attack the gaps and create her own space to put up her jumper. She can battle anyone in the paint for some rebounds, and she has some nice post moves to score her points off the glass.

Laniya Scales was all over the court on defense deflecting passes, blocking shots, and crashing boards to grab the rebound. She did a nice job serving in the help role sliding into the path of her opponents trying to attack the basket. She knocked down her shot from deep as well.

Her court awareness is apparent as she knows how to slide into the gaps and time her cuts to get the pass and buckets. Laniya Scales is always ready to put up her shot showing off a nice midrange jumper catching the pass in transition and immediately elevating up for her bucket. She executes a pick and roll offense really well making her moves at the perfect times. She showed off her ability to block shots protecting the basket on defense. She was one of the most active players on defense constantly sliding in front of her opponents and using her length to its full advantage.

is long, and she uses that on quick close outs to block shots while she’s playing defense. She can guard around the perimeter or inside the paint. Her versatility translates well to the offensive side of the ball as she is able to power through finessing her way to the basket or knocking down shots from behind the arc. She has a way of getting up and over people to score her points.

She was finding ways to score on all levels, and she can easily grab rebounds for her team to extend plays on the offensive side or gain possession from her opponents. She knows how and when to cut through the paint in order to create opportunities to score.
