Prep Girls Hoops Wisconsin Player Profile: Rowan Klesmit
What a joy watching this one play, in which she flows with a good degree of competitiveness and solid basketball IQ. A wiliness to give of herself towards her team. A nice approach that starts with pressure on defense and an attempt to be a facilitator for her teammates. The focus and drive she displays could be construed as leadership but let’s let this young prospect grow into her talents before we put too many labels on her. A picture-perfect jumper should be one of the first things you notice as she warms up before a game. Do yourself a favor to not focus on the last name of Klesmit, and let this one carve out her own path. She has talent of her own to appreciate.

Scout’s Take: This is a player that has a beautiful looking jumper, which is most of the battle when trying to get a better shot and improve. In this game weather on the boy’s or girl’s side you will have to be able to convert on your opportunities when given them during a game. Hence shooting will be important to leveling up on one’s skill. The young player displayed a higher than expected in game IQ, where she seemed to know where she needed to deliver the ball to a teammate, take a jumper, or go harder to the hoop. She displays three levels of scoring: outside jumpers, floaters or pullups, or solid moves to hoop. Her defensive approach was solid enough for a showcase camp. Displayed leadership when needed; in games where a stop, a score, or crunch time determined her involvement. Areas of focus: Even though the prospect made impact in a variety of ways over the course of the two games I watched, she disappeared at times. Whether it was her letting her teammates get involved or whether it was a young player looking for consistency only time and more games scouted will answer the question. Because of the form of the jump shot and player’s athletic ability only her work will determine her next step in progress and leveling up. At this young age it is easy to say that she is this level of player or that level of player. I will say there are a ton of positives and time will tell.
