Continue ReadingThe guard play at the Inside Exposure Classic was really good. Having some of the nation’s best guards in the building was special and was a Thanksgiving treat. In this article we look at some of the Senior guards from around the State of Florida who performed well, yet were under the radar in this tournament.
Kamryn Corporan Kamryn Corporan 5’3″ | PG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL was one of the best smoothest guards at the Inside Exposure Thanksgiving Classic. She is not ranked in the top 10 players in the state, but make no doubt it Corporan can do it all on a basketball court. She ran the point, controlled the tempo and directed the offense. Corporan knocked down several threes on the floor, she shot it well from the midrange, and she handled the pressure with ease going right and left with equal control. Corporan got to the rim throughout the game. She killed the defenders with speed, crossed them up with her ability to change directions, and she “broke” a few ankles with her crossover dribble, and just get downhill in a hurry. Corporan was the real deal and needs to be on someon’s radar. She is just that good.
Khadee Hession Khadee Hession 5’10” | CG St Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL was very athletic and was balling out at the Inside Exposure Thanksgiving tournament. Hession had good handles and had the abnilioty to get to the rim where she had some very crafty finishes. Hession also had a nice shooting touch from all overf the court. Hession diplayed a lot of speed on the court and had the get to the rim. She has a nice hesitation move and knows how to keep the defenders off balance. Hession lets the game come to her and she also has another gear when she needs to me more agressive on the floor.
Ella Stakem Ella Stakem 5’7″ | SG Bolles HS | 2024 State FL knocked down 6 three pointers on Day 2 of the tournament. Stakem has the ability to get hot and string up numerous shots in a row. Stakem has a lot of tools in her arsenal: the three point shot, the floater, and the runner. She is a special shooter and has one of the sweetest shots in the 2024 class.
Jasmine Bocca Jasmine Bocca 5’3″ | PG Colonial | 2024 State FL played well at the Inside Exposure tournament. Bocca is that coach on the floor who has one of the highest basketball IQ’s I’ve seen in high school basketball. In one of the most excitng games at the tournament. Colonial defeated Shabach Christian academy (Maryland) 59 to 58. Bocca scored the last freethrows of the game to put Colonioal up by 1 point wuith close to 15 sedconds to play. Bocca finisged with 8 points and 5 assists.
Kourtney Johnson Kourtney Johnson 5’6″ | PG Mandarin | 2024 State FL balled out in the Thanksgiving Classic tournament. Johnson’s energy was on a different level and that led to a lot of freethrows and steals (11). Johnson also did a good job of scoring the ball, averaging 16.5 points per game. Johnson can score from all three levels on the court. She has great speed and putsd a lot of pressure on a defense with her quickness.
Kiyana Hunter Kiyana Hunter 5’3″ | PG Mandarin | 2024 State FL knocked down 3 threes and averaged 10 points per game and had 13 steals in 2 games. Hunter did a good job of running the offense and handling the ball. Hunter and Johnson are developing into one of the top guard duos on the First Coast. Hunter can shoot the long ball and can also get the ball to the rim. Hunter can create shots for herself and also create scoring opportunities for her teammates.
Tia Dobson Tia Dobson 5’5″ | PG Mainland | 2024 State FL was running the show and did a lot of positive things on the court. Dobson is a blur on the court. She can shoot the long ball, shoot the midrange, and also get to the rim. Dobson’s speed on the court, court vision, court vision, and passing ability really stood out during the tournament.
