If she wasn’t already a D1 softball commit (to the UT Vols), she’d be right up there with the best guards in the state on the basketball court in recruiting circles. She started on a state champion Westview team that was terrific. She’s a diverse player that’s a gifted athlete, natural scorer, competes hard on D, and is an unselfish passer. She’s the type of wing every college wants. Two time state champ–kid is a winner. I hope she tries to play both softball and basketball at UTK.
Skya is a D1 guard that college coaches hope we don’t talk about. She’s already sitting on offers from the local D1s, but now schools like Cincinatti are come to watch her practice. She averaged 25 points per game last year as a sophomore, on 51% from 2, and 29% from 3. That means, once she get’s that 3pt % up to 35%…..she’s going to be a killer! A gifted scorer that sees what other players can’t. She does things you can’t teach! She will begin to skyrocket up the boards soon.
Highlights
Really like this kid’s game! Competes hard on both ends. You’ll see her fill up the stat sheet in areas other than scoring….she simply impacts winning at a high level. Great at the intangibles: super competitive, vocal, wins 50/50 balls. And, she’s already one of the better 3pt shooters in her class. She will continue to rise in recruiting circles.
Highlights
Extremely athletic guard coming into her own. Already one of the better defenders in her class. Knows how to use her mix of size, strength, and quickness to only be a game-changing on-the-ball defender…but wreaks havoc as a shot blocker and jumping in passing lanes as well.
Her offensive game is coming along, and thats what’s leading to her surge in the rankings. She been a nice finisher with both hands, and off 1 or 2 feet. But had a great offseason shooting the basketball, and that changes everything for her. Going from a defensive specialist to a diverse guard is hard to do….but she’s done it well!
This guard has really come into her own over the past season. She previously played with the TN Sol aau organization, and grew rapidly playing vs older competition. She’s turning into a diverse scorer that competes on both ends. Her length and athletcism are weapons when attacking the rim or out in transition. Really like this kids’s potential.
