About Joya
Expert Analysis
Brandon Tinnon | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Her ability to elevate is crazy good. No one could play with her when she got into her jump shot. It was like she would float above the opposition, having a clear look at the basket. Joya played the game with speed and poise, getting into her shot with a quick release. She, too, would lock up on the defensive end, causing fits for opponents. The Lady Bearcats will be gaining a gem in this young lady.

Fast twitch motion guard who can slice to the rim with ease. Has a phenomenal pull-up game where she can utilize her quick first step and rise above any contested hand. She has cat-like instincts where on the defensive end, she capitalizes off lazy passes by jumping the gaps and taking it the other way for an easy layup. She is a super-talented kid, and it is evident in her style of play.

Hollywood is another dynamic scoring guard who knows how to fill it up. This kid is super tough and when the ball is in her hands, it’s about to be a highlight reel. She can get downhill and score it with ease, utilizing her shiftiness to create scoring opportunities. She can pull it from 3 and even knock down mid-range jumpers. She thrives in the transition game where she gets a lot of her points. Her size creates problems. Look for this University of Cincinnati signee to finish out the season strong prior to heading to Queen City of Ohio.

There is a reason why they call her Hollywood. This kid is a menace with the rock in her hands. A 3-level scoring threat that can utilize her handles to knife through a defense. I mean this young lady is tough and it shows in her style of play on both ends of the floor. She has all the counter moves in her arsenal, she’s one tough athlete to slow down for sure. Look for her to lead her ball club back to state contention this postseason.

Growth. Every time I see this young lady, she keeps growing and growing in her game. The University of Cincinnati commit, nicknamed Hollywood, is one of the most dynamic players on the west side of the state (well within the state as well.) A swiss army knife who plays the game with a motor, she is a threat from all levels on the floor. She is a grinder, you know the moniker used by the Memphis Grizzlies “Grit and Grind,” she’s that plus more. Defense becomes her offense as she gets hands on balls, steals and deflections by the boatload. Her team feeds off her energy, instilling confidence no matter the opponent. A sensational talent who is leaving a solid legacy for those to follow coming through the Dyersburg program.

Joya Crawford is just different, and if you watch her lead Dyerburg to a state championship you understand why. The Cincinatti commit could average 20 if you wanted, but instead she hunts winning plays over stats.
Dominant two way player that makes everyone around her better. Can score from all three levels. Disruptive defender. Great court vision. Elite player. Was tremendous on the EYBL circuit this summer. She’s a must watch if you’ve never seen her hoop.

She couldn’t get her 3 ball going vs Bearden, but showed why she’s high D1. Bearden didn’t have a defender that could consistently keep her out of the paint, and when she got all the way to the rim, she had a few beautifully creative finishes. She was also able to get into the FT area and showed off her “stop on a dime” pull-up of the dribble. This Dyersburg team is going to be awesome again next season.
