This post-Thanksgiving tournament featured some of the best players and teams from the Southern California arena both Southern Section and City Section. I was able to attend the even on Monday Nov. 27 and Wednesday Nov. 29. Here’s a look at some additional standouts I saw.
1.
Katie Chiba

Chiba was one of the top point guards on the first day of the tournament. She was a pass-first player; always looking for her teammates and looking to make the right play/extra pass. Good/crafty ball-handler, keeps her head up and can dribble under defense pressure. Relocates after the initial pass. Consistently got to her spots on the court. Good shooter from three-point range.
2.
Darby Stayton

Stayton was one of the better bigs/centers I saw. Active on the glass; gets good rebounding position and follows shots off misses. Boxes out well and hits guards with quick outlet passes. Strong off ball movement, she gets in good scoring position off cuts to the basket and lurking along the baseline.
3.
Taylor Westbrook

Westbrook is a wing/forward who has some guard like skills/ability. Uses step-throughs consistently to finish in the lane. Quick, decisive moves with the ball in her hands. She catches the ball high and keeps it out of reach of the defense. Very good vision in the halfcourt; she plays in the high post and does very well finding cutters. Off ball she makes good cuts/dives to the basket.
4.
Kylee Yeh

Mira Costa | 2027

Yeh is a good point guard with a pass first mentality. Nine times out of ten she’s looking to pass and looking to get her teammates involved. She moves the ball and keeps the offense flowing. When it comes to scoring, she can consistently get paint touches and finish through the defense. Defensively, she’s solid on ball, alert and contests shots well, stays low/down.
