Players that have displayed their superior ability over the past month on the high school floor at an impressive rate. In the article below, we will be covering a hand-full of athletes that you should know moving forward on the hardwood if you don’t already. Each one of these athletes has been producing all season long, helping their perspective teams in a number of ways.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
While we are just kicking off the season for all-intensive purposes, there has been a lot of production throughout the state by a ton of different players. Someone that has stayed consistent in all facets of the game at the guard position is Josilyn Miller Josilyn Miller 5’9″ | CG Verdigre Public School | 2024 State NE of Verdigre High School. Miller is a collegiate level talent, who is a difference maker on the court in more ways than one. On most nights, Miller is setting the tone for everyone else on the floor. Offensively she is making hustle plays, demonstrating top tier skill moves, all while getting her teammates involved every chance she gets. Defensively, a good amount of the time she is distributing the opposing teams offense with her witty tactics. By my assessment, Miller is a D2 player right now. She could provide for a successful program now and in the near future. No doubt about it.
One of the states most well-seasoned playmakers comes in the form of McKenna Yates McKenna Yates 5’7″ | PG McCool Junction | 2024 State NE of McCool Junction. Yates is a smart and savvy individual on the ball. She is very good at picking and choosing her spots throughout a contest and that leads to a lot of success for herself. To start this year, Yates has been taking it to her opponents with full-force. She is scoring in waves, dishing out assists off of the dribble, and causing havoc on the defensive end. All in all, Yates is going to have a great season this year for her last go-around at the high school level. I’m not sure where she will end up for college yet but she is someone that is smart enough and well-skilled enough to play at the next level. She just needs to find the right fit and it’ll all be possible.
Marian High School out of Omaha has had a hot start to their season this winter. They are 5-1 coming out of break and looking to continue their success moving forward. One of the main contributors of this group comes in the form of Shooting Guard, Madison Stover Madison Stover 5’9″ | SG Marian | 2024 State NE . Stover is a consistent and efficient talent. One of those players where you know exactly what you are going to get out of her every night, no matter the location or circumstances of the contest. In this update, Stover drops into our #52 spot, placing her next to some other productive players from across the state. I’m expecting to see a lot more of the same from Stover and her Marian team the rest of the season. They are good enough to make a run at State this year with how tenacious they are defensively. If they stay true to themselves, they are going to be pleased with how their season comes to an end.
Lorissa Reiman Lorissa Reiman 5’9″ | PF St. Mary’s | 2024 State NE comes into this Update as one of the best rebounds out of this 2024 Class so far this season. Reiman, a 5’10 Power Forward, doesn’t take plays off and works relentlessly on both sides of the floor. It’s not a mistake that she comes in highly ranked in this category. Her mixture of smarts, size, opportunity, and strength help her control the painted area against most opponents that she matches up against. Looking forward, Reimam will continue to grind in hopes of helping out her St. Mary’s High School team. When she is determined, she can make anything happen so make sure to keep an eye on this group moving forward.
Carolyn Maser Carolyn Maser 6’1″ | C Grand Island Central Catholic | 2024 State NE has put together a great Senior season on the hardwood to start things off. Maser, a 6’1 Center, is a top producer in the paint this winter throughout the 2024 Class in Nebraska. The best way to describe her game is strong, disciplined, and patient. Maser is smart. She knows how to use her size early and often throughout a contest, wearing down her opponents. Her natural size gives her an advantage by the basket and she uses that advantage every chance she gets. Offensively, when she catches with her back to the basket, she is locked in. She knows what she wants to do and makes sure to keep it simple. Defensively, she stays down and makes her opponents take tough shots over her out-stretched arms on a consistent basis. Right now, Maser is a game changer on the high school floor. Looking toward the future, she is committed to attend Drake University on a volleyball scholarship following this season but that won’t stop her from continuing to put together an awesome Senior year.
