This off-season has been major for many programs with successful pre-seasons and with notable schools checking out school’s open gyms. New England is coming off a summer where some major signings and commitments have made waves. Girls’ basketball is on a roll and it is filled with key players from the region, however these players are just purely the cream of the crop from the endless talent in the region. These players are the ones who you will for sure hear about whether that’s in the local paper or seeing their spectacular skillset shown off on social media! These 5 players are the ones who we would just consider undeniable standouts talents.
Adams is the premiere new age pg with flash! A 3 level scorer at Tilton who instantly will make Miami a team to watch out for next season! Adams has the full package. Her ability to dice through the lane with her crafty handles is unmatched and the best part about her game is she loves getting her teamates involved. She makes no-look passes look easy and her tempo keeps defenders from getting to contain her. If you thought you could, sag off and let her shoot the deep ball, you’re wrong. She knocks down traisnition 3s on the fast break and will shoot you out of a zone.
The Norwell, MA native is a real bucket. I had a chance to check her out on the circuit this summer and Oliver’s game is serious. She is a poised scoring wing who uses her size and quick long-range release to get a plethora of different shots up. Oliver can shoot clutch 3s, set shots and extremely effective off pin down action. Her speed and her size allow her to get to the basket with ease amongst defenders that may be draped on her. Oliver is an elite wing talent with a smooth game.
Carrol is a wing that has a silky-smooth game that isn’t afraid of the big moment. Her ability to take over games is unmatched and a task many don’t willingly take on. Carrol has a deep bag and is rarely rushed but crowding defenders. She can face up and back down smaller players while giving counters, including a mean one-legged turnaround out the post that would be tough for anyone to stop. Carrol is strong enough to finish through just about anybody and please don’t dare her to shoot because she will knock down the 3 at a high percentage.
Khaya Skene is a name that may not be as highly touted on this list but is a tough shot maker! She is on a loaded Putnam Science team, so the stats may not jump out at you this year, but she is one girl who is relentless and fearless. I got a chance to check her out this past week and she made some of the toughest layups look easy while getting to the line at ease. It was almost surgical watching how she attacks; she gets after if it on defense causing turnovers and getting t=into the open court. She is getting to the basket whether the opposing team likes it or not and she also is a very viable 3-point shooter that shoots it a high volume. Please do not let her get on a roll, she will start raining 3s and letting you know about it. She has a natural feel for the game and feeds off crowd energy.
Orlagh Gormley Orlagh Gormley 5’6″ | PG Dexter Southfield | 2024 State NewE is one of the toughest pure point guards New England has to offer. The thing that makes Gormley special is her offensive skillset is so advanced, but she defers to be an amazing floor general. When she gets going downhill, she is unstable, always continuing to push the pace and she is super shifty! She has a cross-drop counter move to get defenders on hip at ease and she can finish amongst the giants, or she has precision accuracy to drop a time to a big or cutting teammate. If you give Gormley space to facilitate it will be a long night for most opposing defenders as well. She has excellent hands to cause turnovers and get in the open court as well. Gormley cuts through traffic with her shifty handle to set up open shooters and feed teammates easy buckets.
