Jones is just at a different level in a game like this. Her ability to get to her spots and score off the dribble was unparalleled in their matchup vs Daniel Boone. She’s a really high level floor general, and did a great job organizing a really nice Bartlett offensive scheme.
It seemed liked Jones knew that she could pick her spots, and didn’t have to force anything. Whether in the half court, or full court, she’s a bucket when she gets to the rim. I was really impressed with her ability to collapse the defense and make the correct pass to the strong side corner.
Dacara Ward
Dacara Ward
Ward is going to be a problem down the road! Her body is already ready to be a big time varsity basketball player. She an imposing force defensively, and in the Bartlett scheme, she really anchored the middle contesting shots and pulling boards. Her offensive bag isn’t really big yet, and her biggest weapon right now is a simple drop-step, power layup through or over the opposition.
As much as I like Jones, Rixter is another high level weapon for Bartlett. She’s a slithering attacker that is able to slice through tight windows and get the rim. She’s really tough when she’s catches on the move with some momentum, and her athleticism gives her real “blow-by-ability.” She’s beginning to turn into a high level, high-efficiency finisher.
The 6’1 sophomore looked fantastic in this game. Really versatile offensively, Bartlett is using her as a traditional post on the block, or in handoff actions at the top of the key. I was really impressed by her understanding of the game, and her ability to play in different spots and actions.
I was really impressed by Riddle’s ability to handle the Bartlett athleticism and length in their press. Riddle’s ability to handle pressure was the shining light for Daniel Boon in this game. In the half court, she was DB’s best offensive player, and did a nice job both shooting from the perimeter and attacking the paint. Riddle had one incredible finish in traffic through a Bartlett defender in the 3rd quarter that was just tough!
Highlights
Bacon showed off her offensive prowess in this game in a few ways. She was a more than competent as a ball handler versus the Bartlett press. She catch and shoot three looked really nice. She attacked the rim well, shooting 4 free throws (and going 4-4). She finished through contact in transition. Really smooth player.
Addison Dietz
Addison Dietz
Dietz is one of those kids that personifies high school basketball. Every time there was a loose ball, she was on it. Charge to take, she was sliding in. Box out….she was hitting someone. Dietz doesn’t have eye-popping stats but but she does play with eye popping grit. Really high IQ, heady player. Nice glue kid.
11-1 Upperman went into their 1st round matchup with Cocke Co not expecting to get home with a loss. Dolete did all she could to help the Lady Bees avoid defeat by chipping in 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Dolente has been a high-level scorer for Upperman all season, but in this game, they couldn’t get enough production from the other scorers. Demonte is smooth shot maker that definetely will play at the next level.
In the losers bracket, they beat Elizabethton, and Dolente had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Highlights
Butler struggled in a first round loss to Cocke County. But, in a 2nd round win to Elizabethton, Butler came alive! She scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Butler continues to show why she’s the “x factor” for this team: when she’s scoring 15 points….they become very hard to beat.
