This event was in honor of the late great Billy Hicks, who is widely known as the winningest coach in Kentucky high school hoops history. The iconic coach compiled 1,013 in his career and won two state titles at Scott County High School.
Below are my Hidden Gems from this event.
N’mya Summers
N’mya Summers
Summers was magnificent at the Billy Hicks Classic, her speed, athleticism, and ability to get a bucket from all 3-levels made her very to stop. In game one against Woodford County she scored a team-high 18 points along with 4 steals, and 4 rebounds. She followed that performance with a double-double against Simon Kenton, scoring 13 points along with 11 boards.
Caylie Baker
Caylie Baker
Baker set the tone for Bourbon County in opening game against Great Crossing. She was very aggressive on offense, doing a good job attacking the basket, using her size to create contact inside. She made a living at the free throw line and the bulk of her points came from there.
Briana Hensley
Briana Hensley
Hensley is a player to keep a eye out for, at just an 8th grader she has a great feel for the game. She was impressive in game 3 against West Jessamine, she did a good job getting others involved, made timely basket cuts that led to points at the rim, and knocked down open shots from deep.

Gadzala is a pure 3-point shooter that can really stretch the floor, the type of shooter that has to be accounted for at all times because she has the green light to let it fly. She buried multiple 3’s in critical moments in the championship game against Grant County.

Barnes came through in the clutch in the championship game against Simon Kenton. She lit it up from long range and drove to the basket to score when the defense chased off the three-point line. She is a very high IQ and knows how to make an impact on both ends. She finished the game with a team-high 17 points.
