Here are my observations of six prospects from this Rams’ double-digit win.
Mia Ernzen Mia Ernzen 5'10" | PF Pleasant Ridge | 2024 State KS , F, Pleasant Ridge, ‘24
Ernzen is a solid multiple-sport athlete. She dominated the third quarter of the game converting on her first four shots from the field in the second half. She finished with a game-high 16 points scored on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. She needs to improve her free throw shooting as she converted on just 4-of-12 free throw attempts. The Ram senior worked hard to get rebounding position and collected a team-high seven rebounds. Ernzen is a solid volleyball prospect as well, but throwing the shot put and discus might be what leads her to a college scholarship.
Maddie Heim, PG, Pleasant Ridge, ‘24
Heim was one of the quickest prospects in this game. She knows how to take care of the ball and for a point guard, she crashes the boards. She scored eight points and recorded six rebounds in the Rams win. She can handle defensive pressure and she has a nice jump shot. Heim was hesitant to pull the trigger on shot attempts during a couple of positions and made a couple of unnecessary fouls in bad situations. She would be a solid addition to an NAIA or JUCO program.
Bela Major, F, Pleasant Ridge, ‘25
Major is another solid dual sport prospect in volleyball and basketball, however, she does not appear to have playing college sports as her priority right now. Maybe that will change between now and her 2025 graduation year. She is long, smart, and quick. She finished with 11 points and five rebounds for the Rams. She would be a solid role player, but I still feel that volleyball is her best shot at the next level.
Dawson Cochren, G/F, Jackson Heights, ‘24
Cochren was the best all-around prospect on the court. She had an off-shooting night, as did the entire Cobra squad, but she is versatile and has basketball chops. She is a plus-defender, who cuts down the passing lanes. She works hard to get rebounds and she can score in transition and off the drive. She finished with a team-high nine points and seven rebounds.
Taylor Bosley Taylor Bosley PG Jackson Heights | 2025 State KS , F, Jackson Heights, ‘25
I was impressed with Bosley’s game. She has a physical frame and is sneaky quick. She has the purest jump shot on the team and scored two three-point field goals. She needs to improve on knowing when to push the ball and when to slow down the pace to take care of the ball. Bosley can create her own shot and she made two 3-point field goals as well. The junior finished with six points and two rebounds.
Chesnea Cochren, G, Jackson Heights, ‘26
The youngest of the solid trio of Cobra prospects arguably might have the best ball-handling skills of the three. She is not as physical as the older Cochren, but she works just as hard to grab rebounds and get to loose balls. She collected five rebounds and scored six points. All three of the Cobra prospects would be solid additions to NAIA programs, and the two younger ones have plenty of time to improve their recruitment stock.
