O’Dowd was incredibly impressive in her team’s win. She rotates the ball quickly on the perimeter and never let’s it stick, keeping the floor spread and forcing movement from the defense. O’Dowd was tremendous finishing at the rim in the win against East Jackson. She finished through traffic, with a floater and even a euro step and score. O’Dowd finished with a game 17.
Goodwin showed a lot of talent and a ton of upside despite the team’s loss. She showed the ability to attack off the wing and score. Goodwin drew a ton of contact and went to the free throw line pretty often. She was incredibly active on the glass, especially on the offensive end. I know she had at least 3 offensive rebounds and scored at least once off of it.
Highlights
Codi Ruge
Codi Ruge
Ruge is a talented guard that looks like she could be a key factor all season long. In this game she showed the ability to both score and distribute. Ruge looked like a very solid passer in the open floor. She was able to score with her jumper and showed 3 point range on it. Ruge even took the ball coast to coast for a bucket.
Lilah Smith
Lilah Smith
Smith’s game drew eyes in her team’s tough loss to Portland. She brought a lot of energy and effort to the floor. Smith saw the floor well and was able to hit teammates with accurate passes both across the lane and over the top. She worked so hard for looks and to create or find open space. Smith is physically strong and plays fearless basketball.
Looking through my notes, it might be harder to find something that Thelen DIDN’T do well. She attacked the rim athletically with terrific control of her movement. She was able to both score and dump the ball off for teammates in scoring positions. Thelen went to the free throw line fairly often and was able to score from all 3 levels.
